Used PC with original macOS in Desktops ·
Finally pulled the trigger on a new PC and honestly? It’s killer. 🙂
Big thanks to everyone for the input and all the solid advice!

Yeah, I figured that out too—it’s plenty enough if all you need is an invoice for the books. The real headache is that nobody at that shop actually picks up the phone, so I’m basically being forced into the more expensive route just to get things done.

I stumbled upon this other option as well, but honestly, it looks like a total downgrade:

Thanks a ton—I'll probably end up going with one of these two options 🙂

What would be a decent, low-budget entry point for a new build running macOS?

Are you seriously talking about that suggestion you made up above, $250? Honestly, I’m just not in the mood to mess around with swapping out SSDs right now—I need something ready to go and productive immediately 🙂
Do you think it's possible to find a decent, brand-new setup for around $667 that comes with macOS pre-installed?

What about this option? Looks like a solid deal to me.

Hey there,
I'm looking to pick up a used computer—just the tower, I don't need a monitor—that comes with a genuine macOS license. I need this specifically for running my business and issuing official invoices, so it has to come from a legitimate retailer or an established online shop so I can get a proper tax receipt.
What would be a decent best buy for around $333?

Thanks in advance!

Honestly, if I were you, this would be my first choice for a starter rig.
It should definitely handle Call of Duty: Black Ops 🙂

Honestly, he’s totally fine with Call of Duty 4 or 5 for now—I’ll probably look into an upgrade once summer wraps up.
Let me rephrase that—is there a GPU out there for roughly $67 that can handle his current power supply and still run those Call of Duty games smoothly for the next 5 or 6 months?
@Smartic
Thanks for the suggestion—I saved that link, so I'll definitely keep it in my back pocket for when the upgrade actually happens. 🙂

I honestly figured time had just rendered it obsolete—but since I’ve been living out of my laptop for years, I haven't really had any reason to bother with upgrades or hunting down a newer 🙂... though, well, my younger brother just discovered the absolute joy of gaming 🙂
So, my immediate thought is to just slap some kind of decent graphics card in there so he can actually play stuff (Call of Duty is the main priority here)—then maybe later on, we can sit down and figure out building something more modern from scratch.

Yeah, that’s pretty much the game plan—swap out the power supply and the GPU for now, then eventually just overhaul the whole thing with something newer later on. This rig is actually for my younger brother, and honestly, he mostly just sticks to stuff like Call of Duty, FIFA, PES, and the occasional racing game.

What do you guys think about picking up a used NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 1GB for $167?
Or is there something better out there for that kind of money?

So, I'm guessing this is a power supply recommendation?
Which GPU would actually be a smart buy to pair with this PSU?

Dell Inspiron 350
AC input 120V AC 4A 60Hz
Output 350 W

I could really use some help picking out a new graphics card—I’m totally lost on what actually fits my current rig. I pulled my old card out already, so I'm just running off the integrated graphics right now, which isn't ideal if I want to actually play anything.
My setup is running an AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual Core 4400 plus
What would be the absolute best bang-for-your-buck option if my budget is around $167? I'm open to suggestions for something used on eBay or Craigslist too.
Thanks in advance 🙂
