Timothy Kim60 said:That cooler is going to let you down hard. You should probably spend some time on YouTube looking at reviews (and maybe a few 😬 parodies) before committing. If that thing were actually a good deal, it would have been snapped up ages ago; at that price point, you're basically just buying bottom-tier junk that nobody respects.

The price tag is what caught my eye, though I'm still debating whether to pull the trigger since someone else already picked up that card. What else can I get in this same price range that isn't such a gamble?

To case is basically just a glorified box at this point. Honestly, I don't think I could find a better card for this price, or even something on the same level, regardless of what I pick.

Why wouldn't it be specifically because of the Stock cooler? He’s telling me it barely saw any action—just a few months of light mining use, which is basically what everyone claims anyway.

Someone just listed this on $517. It’s got a warranty until January 2016. I'm wondering if it's actually worth picking up—does this card make sense at this price point?

Thanks for the advice.

I’m dealing with an issue involving my XFX 7870 (or at least that's what I assume it is based on the attached photo)... image This hasn't been a constant thing, maybe just twice in the last month and a half; the computer just resets itself and then goes right back to normal
While I'm actually using Windows—whether watching a movie or playing a game—the screen will suddenly jump up and down, almost like someone hit the refresh button (it doesn't happen constantly, maybe two or three times over a ten-minute stretch)... I've already ruled out the monitor and the HDMI cable because I tried different ones and the result was exactly the same...
Does anyone suspect anything other than the graphics card? My power supply is a Corsair VS550, though I wonder if it might be underpowered since it isn't the X version.

I wouldn't bother picking up a brand-new card if I were you; you're better off hunting down a used one that still has some warranty left. My 7870 didn't actually die on me—I just want to swap it out for something with a bit more punch. Maybe a GAINWARD GTX 760 or something in that ballpark.

Thanks. I was actually thinking about a used card, something in the $400 range or so--$167 which would be cheaper than an R9 290... any suggestions up to $500 that might offer a bit more punch than the XFX 7870 OC?

Which specific model is the smartest move when picking up a graphics card: MSI, Sapphire, or Gigabyte—specifically regarding an ATI R9 280 x?
