What should I do? in Forum Help! ·
Nicole Sanchez45 said:Hey,

Since I’ve been living in Belgium for years now, I don't know the first thing about the whole TV-phone-internet scene back in the States, so please help me out here:

I don't have anyone left in the US except my parents, two 75-year-olds. They have (or rather, *had*) Max TV. Along with their internet, it’s basically their only window to the world.

Back on October 26th, some outages hit and they were without phone, internet, or TV for about ten days. After that, the internet guys came to fix things and everything seems fine for now, but then the landline situation turned into a total mess.
Basically, the AT&T technician wouldn't listen to a word my mom said. She kept begging him to leave the landline working, but he just cut the wires and told them to just use cordless phones instead. The problem is, when the power goes out, those old folks can't even call a doctor because the cordless phones won't work...

After that, they promised to get the Max TV fixed, but for one reason or another, it hasn't happened. (Honestly, I still don't get why my parents can't watch Max TV when the entire neighborhood can!)

So, some genius suggested satellite TV, claiming they'd get all the same channels as Max, and my parents agreed (they’d agree to anything just to get their shows back).
A week later, a fourth technician shows up and tells them satellite is out of the question—which actually makes sense since they live on the coast near San Diego where the winds get brutal....
And ever since then, it's been a disaster. Nobody responds to our emails or phone calls. But of course, my parents still get their bills on time—and pay them too!

I'm starting to think these technicians try to pull all kinds of crap. They see two elderly people and probably figure they can easily scam them. I honestly don't know anything about how the service works in America anymore. I tried looking up other providers online, but the info on their websites doesn't tell me anything useful.

Can anyone tell me which bundle (TV, internet, phone) I should pick? Which one provides decent service without being a complete rip-off?
I am seriously getting sick of AT&T! After all the pleas and complaints, after a month of dragging this out, they still haven't found a permanent solution! At this point, I think it's best to just switch to someone else... what do you guys think?

Thanks in advance!

PS. If I posted this in the wrong forum, sorry, mod can move it. THX

I mean, who even uses AT&T anymore? (Besides older folks who aren't tech-savvy, I guess...) They are hands down the most expensive, and their speeds are slower than almost any other provider in the US today.
My advice? Run as far away from AT&T as possible. Just grab a triple play package from Comcast, or Verizon, or Spectrum, or Xfinity—honestly, anything is better than AT&T.
Just Google Comcast, Verizon, Spectrum, or Xfinity, check their sites, pick a package, and see if it's available in your area immediately.
Here’s a link with all the providers in the US:
