Hey everyone...
Just thought I’d check in. I was at the end of my seven-month recovery from surgery... the swelling in my nose has finally died down, and I don't think there's anything left to come down.
I still have a tiny bit of stiffness at the tip, and I'm careful when washing my face, 🙂 but honestly, I don't think much else is going to change. 🙂
I saw someone asking about when it's safe to start kissing again... personally, I was back at it about a month and a half after the procedure (and I wasn't exactly obsessing over my nose at the time 🙂), and everything went just fine.
It feels like I never even had the surgery; I can barely even remember what my old nose looked like anymore. 🙂
Good luck to everyone heading into this, and to those who are still on the fence. 🙂

I was out at the Vinogradski vineyard with my own laptop, just piggybacking off their wireless signal. 😉

🙂
Look, I don't have any emotional attachment to the doctor. He didn't grope me, aside from accidentally bumping my nose—which, honestly, makes sense given the circumstances. 🙂 >> He hasn't taken a dime from me, nor has he scammed anyone else I know.
I’m just stating my own experience. He did a lousy job for you, but for me, he was perfect. I’m saying this so some third party reading this doesn't look at your post and assume the guy is a total hack.

I don't think it's right to go around dragging certain doctors through the mud like this. I had my surgery performed by Vladimir Bedeković, and he did an incredible job. I also know two other women who had beautiful noses done by him, and they are both thrilled with the results. I'm truly sorry you aren't happy with how your surgery turned out. Just to set the record straight, Orlando has been around since 2004, so Bedeković didn't just pop up out of nowhere from Vinogradski or start Orlando himself. A lot of doctors from Vinogradski work at Orlando, and Bedeković just goes there occasionally—I actually called them, and they told me he mostly handles facelifts there when they request him, maybe a few times a year.
Don't take this as me trying to lecture you or being rude, but I just felt like saying it isn't fair to smear people's reputations like that.
Best,
Hey everyone!
Just thought I’d check in..
My nose and I are doing fine.. sleeping on my stomach, breathing easy, getting through the workday.. no major setbacks so far.
The only thing is, my nose looks a little crooked right now. I’m chalking that up to the fact that it’s only been two weeks and there are still stitches inside—it feels like there's more tension on the right side.🙂 Plus, the doctor told me I’ve still got some swelling. I can't really see it myself, but she’s an ENT and could tell just by looking at my neck, so I guess we'll take her word for it.😉
I also found out something I wasn't expecting: apparently, I have to go back in to get the stitches removed. They aren't the dissolvable kind, so they won't just fall out on their own... and here I was thinking....🙂 I mean, since they stitched through the cartilage, they aren't exactly going to just pop out, right?
Anyway, just wanted to give a quick update...
Hope you're all doing well, whether you're hanging out at the beach or just relaxing wherever you are.🙂😉
Thanks, everyone... I'm already starting to lose my cool. I’ve been overanalyzing this thing too much. I'm taking a week off from looking at it. 🙂 Plus, there aren't any bumps on my nose yet, which is what I'm praying for. 😉

Oh, and those end pieces... when are they actually going to be released?
Also, did anyone else notice my lip looked a bit weird? I don't even know how to put it into words. It’s like the middle part of my lip just went limp, sort of collapsed 🤣... I'm not sure if it's just the swelling. 🤷
Sophia Young73 said:Don't sweat it. I had the exact same thing happen when I took my mold off, and now they look identical. Today is my day 14. Just hang in there. Before my surgery, I didn't have a bump on my nasal bone, but now I do. I’m just hoping it settles down. Did any of you guys deal with something similar??

thanks....😉
The healing process... I have this feeling that one nasal bridge is wider, or maybe just sitting higher than the other. They took the mold off today and honestly, I feel pretty miserable because my bridges look uneven now, even though they weren't before. Is it actually possible for things to level out once everything settles down and the sutures are removed? 😢
Here’s where I’m at heading into the weekend. On Monday, my doctor is coming in to pull the stitches. For now, I’m alive and kicking. I have one annoying little issue, though—they gave me some saline to rinse my nose, which involves tilting my head back and all that, but every time I try, the liquid runs straight down my throat. It makes me so nauseous I have to lie down for an hour just to recover.
As for everything else, the swelling is manageable. I’ve got those yellowish bruises on my cheeks, and my eyelids are still this gorgeous shade of purple (does anyone know if heparin cream actually helps with that? Any experiences?)....
Food-wise, I’m eating like a pig, though chewing is getting a bit difficult since I can’t really open my mouth wide without feeling a lot of tension...
The doctor did a checkup with the speculum today and said he’s happy with the progress. No real pain, just some tightness around the stitches...
Sleeping has been hit or miss; I’ve tried side, back, and stomach. My nose is still pretty stuffy.🙂
Reading through some of your comments, I realize I actually got off pretty easy compared to some of you...
And a quick tip regarding those tampons—just squeeze your eyes shut and breathe through your mouth. It passes quickly, though there might be a little sting. 🙂
Best,😁
@ rustygardener172
I totally misread your first post... my bad... 😉 we get it though..👍
So, I finally got this tampon out this morning. Talk about a relief... it’s such a weird sensation. It didn't actually hurt, just a bit of a sting. My nose is all crusty right now, but I figure once I peel off this bandage covering half my face and rinse everything with a good amount of saline, I'll actually be able to breathe through my nose again 😁.. 🙂 Plus, the swelling is going down surprisingly fast. I've got these yellow bruises under my eyes, and my eyelids still look like I went overboard with some dark purple eyeliner—which, honestly, works pretty well with my green eyes... haha..
The only thing is, my whole nose feels tingly, almost like it's swollen up and being squeezed by this mold. Doesn't really matter, though; I can handle it. 🙂
Best,
Yeah, you can definitely have a deviated septum without even realizing it. Most people deal with some minor deviation that doesn't actually mess with their breathing enough to notice. I have a friend who has a pretty significant deviation, but you can't see it from the outside; you only find out once a doctor sticks that little scope up your nose during an exam...
@ rustygardener172
My nose worked perfectly fine... no deviations, no issues whatsoever. But it always got under my skin because it just looked too long for my face, so I decided to shorten it.
It’s purely about aesthetics when you don't touch the function; you just leave the septum alone. That’s how mine was done, and I had a professor perform it who, honestly, really knows his stuff. Besides, the surgery is much more straightforward if you aren't messing with the septum. Again, it depends on the individual case, but in my situation, it was strictly cosmetic.
And no, I don't think I'm crazy just because I went through with it even though my breathing was fine. 🙂 (I added this little emoji because it's kind of cute.. hihi)
🙂
@ Emily Martinez12
...I only had cosmetic work done; the doctor didn't touch anything internal..
Hey ladies...
So, I had my surgery yesterday, and I figured I’d share how it went. I didn't go to a private clinic; I went through the hospital system. Everything seems fine so far...
The day before the procedure, I wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything after midnight (pro tip: eat a huge meal beforehand). They gave me an Apaurin to help me sleep. In the morning, I waited around for a bit since there was another surgery ahead of mine. Then a nurse came by, gave me an injection in the muscle, and about 15 minutes later, we were off to the OR. Once I got there, I stripped down, they hooked up the IV and the oxygen mask, and then—poof—lights out. When I woke up, I was thirsty as a dog. Naturally, you aren't allowed to drink anything for two hours. I ended up acting like an idiot, chugging water and sipping tea through a straw later on. It’s a little awkward because you have to breathe through your mouth, so your lips and mouth get incredibly dry...
I didn't deal with any nausea or vomiting, though the lady in the bed next to me suddenly projectile vomited a whole liter of water. Poor thing...😢
They moved me back to my regular room the following morning, and here I am now.🙂
My eyes, the bridge of my nose, my cheeks, and my lips are all swollen. I look like a raccoon. My upper and lower lips are this deep purple-red color. The doctor told me the swelling will actually get worse tomorrow before it starts getting better. My nose hurts a little, but it’s manageable; I'm just taking some painkillers and I'm good. I can eat, and honestly, I'm starving, so I've been snacking constantly.🙂 Oh, and I’m on an antibiotic that I have to take every three hours... so yeah, I'm still hanging in there. I can't wait until they remove the tampons so I can finally see what the doctor actually did.😁
Best to everyone.
silverharbor18 said:I have... a question. Actually, more of a problem.
(Not sure if anyone’s brought this up yet; I didn't feel like scrolling through 223 pages)

I had nose surgery almost six months ago. For the most part, everything is fine, except for one thing—the mucus. It’s driving me insane. My nose is constantly congested, but I can't blow it out normally. The only way it works is if I flush my nose with a saline rinse; otherwise, I practically have to fish it out with a Q-tip (wrapped in toilet paper, obviously... standard cotton swabs are just too thick to use effectively). I can't even describe it properly. It’s different than before; it's weirdly sticky. The best comparison would be raw white meat—you know that tacky feeling you get from chicken? Imagine slicing that white meat into tiny, thin strips. That's what my mucus feels like.
At my last checkup three months ago, the doctor told me everything looked good and that I didn't need to come back unless necessary (though I think I'll be seeing him again soon).
A friend of mine, who’s a veterinarian, heard my story about the mucus and asked how long I was on antibiotics after the surgery. They didn't give me any antibiotics at all. She lost her mind, wondering how they could perform surgery and not follow up with antibiotics (when they treat animals, they always blast them with antibiotics post-op). Is this some consequence of strange bacteria adding "ingredient X" to my mucus, or is the membrane just not fully healed yet, or what the hell? :/
Anyone have suggestions, advice, or similar experiences?

By the way, @rustygardener172/">@@rustygardener172, you really are royalty!
Imagine being scheduled for surgery two months out. -.-' I waited a year and a half for my surgery, and that’s after waiting three months just for the initial consultation.
That's probably why my nose is in this state now, since I went through the public healthcare system! Woohoo. 😁

...regarding the antibiotics after surgery... you don't just hand those out after a procedure like this unless there's a specific medical reason. You definitely don't do it routinely. There's no sense in just throwing antibiotics at people for no reason...
Donna Watson80....I just had my consultation, and the doctor told me I can't dive deeper than about 6 feet... apparently because of the pressure issues. 🙂
Has anyone here actually dealt with Dr. Miller? Any experiences to share?
Thanks for the input....
I’m honestly a little surprised to hear that public hospitals are performing that poorly—at least, according to what you guys are saying..
(I should probably play devil's advocate here, since this is my field🙂 )...but it sounds like that's the reality.
I always assumed ENT specialists at big university hospitals were the gold standard; a few doctors have mentioned that to me... whereas most of these private clinics aren't actually run by ENT specialists, and frankly, I wouldn't dream of seeing someone who isn't an expert in their specific niche..🙄
Ugh.... now I'm even more torn. Theoretically, I could just head to a major hospital and ask anyone for a second opinion, but I'm pretty cheap when it comes to paying those ridiculous consultation fees..
😁
Hmm....😕
Hey there,
I’ve been scrolling through your posts for a while now, but honestly, there are just too many of them to catch up on everything. So, I figured I’d just ask here and hope someone with a little extra time feels like helping me out. Thanks in advance. 🙂
I’m trying to figure out how the payment works for surgery—specifically at Mayo Clinic versus a local hospital like Mount Sinai. If it’s strictly cosmetic, do I just wire it to an account or what?
Also, has anyone actually been to Mayo or Mount Sinai for a procedure lately? And I have to ask—why does it seem like everyone is flocking to private surgeons instead? Is the waitlist at the public hospitals that brutal?
thanks
