Hey everyone... I’ve got a question and could really use some help here. A friend gave me this DVD with four 3D movies burned onto it. He used to watch them through a dedicated player, but the subtitles were always out of sync and driving him crazy. Now he wants to move the files onto a hard drive because he heard that plugging a drive directly into the TV works better. So, I popped the disc into my computer, but I’m hitting a total brick wall. I can't open anything. I can't see any files, check their size, or even get a glimpse of what's happening. Is there any way at all to actually open this disc just to see what's inside? I'm not even trying to play the movies right now; I just want to see the file structure and hopefully copy the movies over to my PC.

Alright, here’s another one for you... someone actually suggested he should go out and buy more RAM, as if the 4GB he’s running right now isn't basically nothing. They told him more is always better. Is it actually worth throwing money at this?

It’s impossible to tell what kind of power supply is in that shot...???

I have this nephew who's been over at my place constantly lately because he claims my setup is way better for gaming.... He's got this machine at his house:

It’s about four years old now. He mentioned that if he had bought the same graphics card I have and popped it into his build... or maybe even just buying this specific card right now...
I couldn't really give him any solid advice because I don't know the ins and outs of this stuff... especially regarding that card from $100... Honestly, I suspect his PC wouldn't be able to handle a card like that given his other components. The main question is: what's the best way for him to beef up his rig? Gaming is his absolute priority. Is just upgrading the GPU enough, or is there more to it? He’s got a pretty big screen at home—basically a TV set at 1920x1080 resolution. What would be the smartest move in his situation? Any advice is welcome... thanks in advance.

The problem is, under the network driver section, there are like seven or eight different options listed. It's a total guessing game—I have no clue which one actually fits my Dell Latitude E-series. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hey everyone... quick question for you all. A buddy called me up earlier asking if I could help him get Windows running on a new laptop he just picked up. I told him, "Sure thing, bring it over." So he drops it off, straight out of the box from Best Buy. I unbox it, looking for driver discs or anything similar, but there's nothing. Then I spot an Ubuntu sticker on the chassis. I power it up and, yep, it’s running Ubuntu. Now, the guy doesn't have a clue how to navigate that OS, and honestly, neither do I. He’s almost certainly going to demand I swap it over to Windows. So, here's my dilemma: can I actually install Windows on this machine? And if I do, am I going to be able to hunt down all the drivers online without a headache? The laptop is a Dell Latitude.

I watched it at some point... you're really asking me to dig through my brain for something specific? I can't tell you if there was a certain scene or something that actually stuck with me... honestly, I haven't got a clue.

I think this is the fix... it’s technically for the 2003 version, but the logic should be identical.

Go ahead and hit Insert, then grab Page Numbers from the dropdown menu. A little window will pop up. You'll need to click on Page Number Format in the bottom left corner, which opens up another dialog box. Just check the "Start at" box, type in the page number you want—in this case, 3—and that should do the trick.

It’s possible the issue is just the subtitle file itself... though it might be how your TV is configured. If you can't find a way to fix the settings, honestly, the easiest workaround is to just swap out all those weird characters that aren't displaying right. You know, like replacing "Š" with "S" or "Č" with "C."

Fire up Subtitle Workshop, load your translation, and look at the top left corner. Select FIND (it's the third option down), then hit FIND & REPLACE from the dropdown menu to pull up the little dialog box. http://www.zaslike.com/files/h8bzbmdba2ger4nynpl3.jpg
Put the problematic letter in the first line and its standard version in the second, then hit "replace all." Just repeat that process for every wonky character until it's clean, then save the whole thing as an SRT file.

I'm letting go of these four CDs as well... obviously at a steal... I'll give you the whole set for $17.....
