restlessrider14 said:HI, can someone help me out: I had nose surgery two weeks ago and now there are three lumps at the bridge of my nose. They're slightly visible and you can feel them when you touch them... they feel hard, almost like bone, but they weren't there before. What do you think this could be? My doctor's appointment isn't for another two weeks, though he told me over the phone that everything is fine, but I don't really believe him. Has anyone else dealt with something like this?

Hey restlessrider14, honestly, what the doctor said is likely correct. Those are just some bony protrusions that I’m still dealing with myself, even though it's been over three months since my procedure. My nose still has a visible line down the middle and the tip remains swollen. It used to feel completely numb, but it's finally starting to loosen up a bit. I still find myself massaging this crazy nose for a few minutes whenever it crosses my mind... I'm not even sure if that actually helps at this stage.
Anyway, try not to stress too much about whatever you're feeling right now; any physical reaction involving the bone structure is expected. It'll settle down eventually—hopefully entirely, or at least enough that it isn't noticeable. 😁
Can someone send me some photos? Thanks. 😁

Also, did anyone deal with breakouts or blackheads for a long time after taking the bandages off? It’s been over a month since my surgery, and my nose has just started acting up... 😁 redness, pimples, and it's spreading outward... it's honestly pretty gross. 😲 I have this feeling that the more I try to cover it up with light powder (that airy, mousse-style stuff), the worse it gets... :/ The swelling hasn't budged either, and the shape of my nose seems to be shifting slightly... but this redness is what’s really killing me. Are you guys using anything specific for this? I used the cream my doctor prescribed a few days ago, and now it feels like my skin has just gone haywire... 🙄
If you aren't dealing with an excessive amount of bruising—like, if your entire face isn't drastically blue and swollen—you should be able to pull it off in about ten days with just a little bit of concealer.

@Megan Moore76/">@@Megan Moore76 - I actually saw Dr. Đanić up in Pittsburgh.
Hey everyone! I have a quick question for those of you who have been through this recovery process after surgery. How long did it take before you felt comfortable getting back into sports? I asked my doctor about hitting the gym just a week after the procedure, and he gave me the green light—as long as I avoided high-impact stuff like volleyball, obviously, due to the risk of impact. So, we're talking exertion, sweating, all that. Well, it’s been a little over two weeks now, and I woke up today to find redness right where the bandage used to be. I did some dancing yesterday—which was my second workout since the surgery—and now I’m wondering if I overdid it. It feels a bit tender and numb, just like it did after the first session, but now there's this redness too... though it could just be a minor cold I picked up. I know the redness shouldn't really be sticking around, but still...🙂It probably would have been smarter to just stay put and rest, but honestly, I can't stand sitting still. I'm losing my mind being this inactive and passive...😠
Has anyone else here stayed active and dealt with something similar? -.-
Arthur Patel4 said:Can anyone recommend a truly excellent clinic in Indianapolis or somewhere nearby where I could get a rhinoplasty?
I'm not quite sure how to describe it, but my nose feels somewhat disjointed—there's a bump positioned quite high up.

Something similar to this nose:

If any of you have had nose surgery yourselves, or just know someone who has gone through a rhinoplasty, I’d appreciate it if you could suggest a clinic where the doctors actually do great work.

I was looking into this clinic; what do you all think?

Any positive or negative experiences?

Thanks.

Hey, if I were you, I’d head over to Pittsburgh for ENT. I went there myself (using my insurance referral) and they fixed my nose both functionally and aesthetically. The doctor is a Chief Resident, specialized in both ENT and plastic surgery. He runs a private clinic too; I don't know exactly what his rates are, but I've heard they aren't nearly as astronomical as some others charge. Anyway, my advice is to do some digging and schedule a consultation, even if you have to pay out of pocket, just to see. It's been a week since my surgery, the bruising is almost invisible, and he straightened the bridge at the root just enough to look natural—to quote him, "he doesn't like plastic-looking noses that don't suit a person's face." 😁 As for the doctor and the staff, I have nothing but praise; they are so kind, it's like you've known them for a hundred years, which makes staying in the hospital much easier. Regarding the most important part—how the nose looks—it's still slightly swollen at the bridge, but so far, I am beyond satisfied. I'll keep you posted on my progress, especially if any unwanted side effects pop up, though I'm hoping for none. Given how things look now, there's no reason to worry.🙂
Anyway, that's just my experience, so take it for what it's worth. As for Indianapolis, I've heard plenty of horror stories from friends and others... everything from the staff to the surgical outcomes. I can't generalize, obviously, and it would be foolish to bash every doctor in Indianapolis, but I simply don't have anyone there I can recommend. If anyone else has had a different experience in Indianapolis, please speak up. 😁 😁
Good luck with everything.😉
Here’s my update following the surgery.😁 I had it this past Tuesday, and everything went smoothly. Bruising and swelling have been minimal, and I haven't dealt with any dramatic side effects from the general anesthesia. No nausea, just feeling pretty wiped out afterward. I finally made it home on Friday, and I can feel myself getting stronger with each passing day—I've learned you shouldn't just stay in bed all day, or you'll never get your energy back.😁 I'm taking the splint off tomorrow, so I'm genuinely curious to see the final result. I'm just hoping there isn't a massive wave of late swelling in the nose... how did things go for you all once the splint came off?
Oh, one thing: the only lingering effect from the anesthesia and meds is some occasional heart arrhythmia. Honestly, though, I knew I had that coming—it runs in my family, unfortunately—and since it seems to be tapering off every day, I'm not losing much sleep over it. 😁
Sophia Young73 said:I handled all my pre-op requirements directly through my surgeon on the actual day of the procedure. They did my blood work and EKG right there. As for the nasal exam, the doctor checked everything out during my consultation a week prior. Wishing you the very best of luck. Just pray to God and everything will turn out fine.

I will, thank you... for both the well wishes and the advice.🙂 If any other questions pop into my head, I’ll check back in after the surgery to share how it went. 👍
What kind of pre-op testing did you all go through? Beyond the standard stuff like blood work, urine samples—especially checking blood type—EKGs, and chest X-rays... I was browsing some health forums and saw mentions of having a nasal endoscopy performed to check the internal passages. Apparently, that's common if there are breathing issues involved. My family is starting to get a bit anxious that we might have missed something the doctor didn't explicitly mention. Since I’m heading under general anesthesia, I don't want to take any chances; it's not something you mess around with. If anyone who's been through this can offer some insight, I'd really appreciate it.😁
Look, I know there are all sorts of people out there who will go out of their way to be unhelpful or negative, but honestly, who cares? I know that once this is over, a massive weight is going to lift off my shoulders and I’ll finally feel like myself again. I actually really appreciated my surgeon's approach during the initial consultation. Instead of suggesting some drastic overhaul or trying to give me a generic, "perfect" nose that wouldn't suit my face, he suggested making only minimal adjustments—just enough to straighten things out without losing my actual identity. To quote him directly: ''staying true to myself.'' Hehe, I loved that approach.
So, thank you all for the advice; it’s made things feel much more manageable and has definitely calmed my nerves. Best of luck to those of you just starting your journey and to everyone who is already well on the road to recovery. 😉
Sophia Young73 said:When I got out of bed this morning, everything just went black. I collapsed onto the floor and started shaking uncontrollably. Once I finally came to, I was completely baffled by what had happened. I lost consciousness. This has never happened to me before. Now I’m spiraling a bit, wondering if this is some delayed reaction to my surgery from three weeks ago—specifically back on July 11th. Has anyone else ever experienced something like this?

I haven't heard of anyone experiencing that specifically because of a procedure, though feeling weak is par for the course. That part about the shaking sounds more serious, though. You should definitely head to the doctor; better safe than sorry.

Thanks for all the input, everyone.. 😉

I'm also curious about how other people react post-op... some of you mentioned that most people won't even notice anything was done unless they're close to you. Since my nose is being straightened by about 2 millimeters, I'm really trying to gauge how obvious it will be. My biggest concern isn't the look, but the social fallout. I am not the type of person who enjoys "explaining" myself when people start asking, "Oh, why did you do that?" or "You shouldn't have..." I don't have the patience for those conversations, so my standard response is probably going to be a blunt, "Just because." 😁
I'm mostly thinking about my classmates and people at my university lectures—the kind of acquaintances where you're polite because you're colleagues, but that's it. I just want to know how much mental fortitude I need to pack for. 😂
Sophia Young73 said:I was actually able to head out the moment my molds were removed—day seven post-op—and I didn't even need foundation. Nobody could tell I’d had surgery.
My surgeon gave me strict orders to stay out of the sun, though.
Basically, no tanning beds, no saunas, no direct sunlight, and no heavy workouts for at least two months...
And I can't even wear sunglasses for six months.
Hang in there and don't let the anxiety get to you; it will all be worth it. 😉

Thanks, I really hope so because the nerves are definitely setting in. 🙂 My friends are trying to cheer me up by joking that if my swelling goes down fast enough, they'll count me as "beach-ready" just two weeks after surgery... as if there's any better place to recover than on vacation. 😁 But clearly, that's not happening... I'll be stuck indoors until the sun starts setting. ://
Did you actually manage to dodge the sun for two full months without cheating? 🙂
Hey everyone.

I’m scheduled for some cosmetic work in a couple of weeks (just a minor 1-2 millimeter adjustment to my profile🙂), and I’ve hit a bit of a dead end. I feel like I’ve scoured this entire forum, but I can't find a specific answer to my question—unless I somehow missed it, which is possible, but unlikely... 🙂
I'm curious about the recovery phase. Specifically, if the bruising has mostly subsided after two weeks and I’m starting to look somewhat presentable again, am I cleared to get some sun? (I know, sounds like a vampire's dilemma, haha). I've heard conflicting things about avoiding sunlight post-op, but nobody seems to specify the actual timeframe...
On the flip side, I also read somewhere that heading to the coast might actually be beneficial for the fresh air and general recovery, blah blah blah... so now I'm stuck between two different ideas. :/
If anyone has the actual facts on this, I'd really appreciate it. 😁
