I can't quite recall the exact model, but I know for a fact it gave me massive headaches.
First off, according to the server admins, some nasty virus crawled onto it that just wouldn't budge. After that, it started making these bizarre noises and then just kicked the bucket.
The one I'm using now is also a Seagate, and it’s already making those same weird sounds. I decided to grab an external drive to move everything over just to be safe. I have way too much precious data on here to risk losing it all again.
I haven’t really messed around with Samsung gear before. For me, WD has always been the gold standard for reliable drives, whereas my experience with Seagate has been pretty lousy—I actually had to swap out an internal Seagate drive twice.

My old Canon finally gave up on me; the print head died. The repair guy told me straight up that it’d be cheaper to just grab a brand-new machine than to try and fix the head. I didn't leave it plugged in all the time either—only turned it on when I actually needed to print—so I'm guessing the ink just dried up and turned into a brick. There's no saving that one.

I reinstalled my OS last night—Windows 7, 32-bit. The LAN cable was plugged in during the whole installation process, but once everything finished up, the network setup menu just never popped up. Now I'm stuck wondering if I need to install the drivers first before I can even touch the internet settings, or what? Like Donna Garcia said, I definitely need to track down those drivers.
The thing is, I tried hunting for the chipset drivers on the Realtek website last night and the download wouldn't even start.
I'm totally lost and honestly have no clue what to do next. Usually, when I'm setting this stuff up for someone else or even for myself, it’s a breeze. But this HP machine is seriously driving me up the wall.
I tried downloading a whole bunch of drivers straight from the HP site, but honestly? None of them are working. I even went through the trouble of installing the HP Support Assistant, but that hasn't helped at all either.
I just finished reinstalling Windows on a friend's laptop. Everything seems totally fine, except for one thing: the internet isn't working.
