We’ve actually already had a thread dedicated to this topic over on the film board.
To me, cinema is true art, whereas TV series often feel like mass-produced commodities... though I find myself watching both regardless.

Modern sitcoms are a disaster. Even the few that are actually good? They're terrible.

It’s classic overestimation.
Rectify is a Solid series, certainly, but it's just one among many and nothing more than that...

I can agree with you regarding sitcoms.

Just a massive, pretentious hipster ego trip...

Linklater 🤣
just a little hop, skip, and a jump...
even before Boyhood, Linklater was basically the director equivalent of a light afternoon distraction...

Slumdog Millionaire
The Hurt Locker

It wouldn't be an issue at all; we've grown quite accustomed to seeing mediocrity sweep the statues (sorry, The Artist)...
which one is better than the ones listed above? Birdman, perhaps...

How exactly does one even begin to approach that...

I honestly can't wrap my head around the idea that Boyhood deserves to take home the win... It just feels fundamentally unearned...

Personally, I find the Grand Budapest Hotel to be an incomparably weaker film than Birdman...

Whether it's Emir, Emil, or Emin, it makes absolutely no difference in the USA; nobody actually pays attention to those distinctions...

I once watched an American series where two Muslims from Srebrenica were named Rajko and Nebojša, so...
When I first started watching Emil Kovač, I really should have just turned it off, but being the masochist that I am, I sat through it until the very end. What a joke...
