Caught the Boston game against the Golden State Warriors recently and I actually liked what I saw. Sure, it was tight until the end, but they held their own against a solid Warriors squad on the road. Sacramento’s defense is a mess when it comes to guarding guys like Rajon Rondo and Pierac, so I think Boston cruises through tonight. Plus, Boston is heating up—they've gone 8-2 over their last 10. They did get hammered by 30 against Indiana, but that was a back-to-back situation after a brutal week, and then they barely lost by 3 out in LA. Honestly, Boston should take this one easily.
My pick: Boston
Danny Granger
Granger is headed for a massive night, and he isn't exactly a defensive specialist anyway. Last time out, he dropped 20 points on Andre Iguodala, so I’m feeling confident he hits the over again tonight. Over his last five games, he's been putting up 19, 19, 18, 11, and 20. That 11-point game? He only played 18 minutes.
I think there are about five games tomorrow. I'll probably chill out and just throw some tiny amount of money on something for the hell of it. Then, later on, I'll actually put some effort in when the real money is on the line. 😁
Last night was pure madness. Stoudemire dropped 13 in the third quarter alone. It was like Michael Jordan possessed him, honestly unbelievable. Minnesota put up 127 points, with a total of 251 in the game. Defensive effort was non-existent.
Today looks like another ridiculous day for the NBA.
Indiana - Portland
Indiana is looking solid at home with an 11-5 record. Personally, I think Portland might cover a 5-point spread, especially since they aren't exactly a powerhouse on the road at 6-14. Even though Portland has been hitting the 100-point mark in their last 10 games, Indiana's defense is tight—they've been giving up an average of just 91.2 points lately. Since Portland hasn't proven they can actually play well on the road, I'm leaning toward Indiana handling them easily.
my pick: Indiana -4.5
Dallas - Washington
Dallas had a nightmare of a road trip, going 0-3. I think they’ll flip the script today playing at home, where they usually hold their own and keep scores low. I don't see Washington scoring much, so this feels like an under to me.
my pick: under 198.5
Kobe Bryant
The line for him is set at 29.5 points today, which is massive. Kobe Bryant regularly clears that bar, but it might be time for him to go under. Not much else to say when you're talking about someone who can drop 60 points without breaking a sweat.
my pick: Kobe under 29.5
I'd also throw some money on John Wall over. What do you guys think? Can the Dallas defense actually stop him from hitting 19 points? Looking at the stats, Dallas's perimeter defense isn't exactly elite.
With Rubio out, I don't think the Wolves' offense is going to be nearly as efficient. They probably won't hit that 97.5 mark, especially since Phoenix has been looking a bit sharper lately.
My pick: Minnesota under 97.5
Amare Stoudemire under 18.5
Against a solid defense like Chicago's, there's not much to look forward to here. I'm thinking he stays under 19 points. Jeremy Lin might be running alongside him, but even though he hasn't been much lately, I still think 16 points is a stretch for him.
Derrick Rose over 23.5
What else can I say? It feels like an easy one tonight. He should clear that line without much trouble.
Honestly, today is just one of those days where thinking clearly feels impossible. It's a struggle to put together anything remotely intelligent. New York vs Philadelphia
I don't see the New York Knicks hitting the over on 98 points against Philadelphia. Philly's defense is playing at an elite level right now, and I'm betting the Knicks end up landing well below that mark.
My pick: New York under 98.5
Orlando vs Indiana
Indiana had a brutal matchup against Miami last night. I think that overtime really took the wind out of their sails. Orlando looks rested, and they might just ride that momentum to steamroll a tired Indiana squad. With Turkoglu sitting out, they probably won't lean as hard on the three-point line and might focus more on feeding Dwight Howard. There's a good shot he goes over his total tonight, though I’m staying away from him—if they start chucking 30 or 35 threes again, he's going to get swallowed up.
My picks: Orlando vs LA
Los Angeles vs Boston
I don't know what's going on with LA lately. They can't seem to pull off a decent win to save their lives. Given how much they've been struggling recently, I'm thinking they won't beat Boston by more than 6.
My pick: Boston +6
The total odds are looking pretty weak, but I'm stuck on what to actually put money on. Anyone got a solid suggestion?
EDIT:
The New York under 98.5 was a total scam. Absolute trash. I'm throwing in the towel for today.
The drive from Milwaukee to Chicago. Just another stretch of highway to lose my mind on.
Just like Arthur Hill2 already pointed out.
Arthur Hill2 said:It’s basically a home game for the Bulls at this point.Just look at that atmosphere. Even the commentators were pointing out that the crowd was about 75% away fans. These guys absolutely demolished the third seed from the East by 20 points last game, and they actually had an extra day of rest to boot. There isn't much use in overanalyzing this one—the Bulls have already beaten them by a combined 42 points over the last two games this season. It’s just how it is.
Milwaukee’s been playing without Giannis for a while now, and with guys like Stephen Jackson and Mbah a Moute stuck on the injury report too, things are looking pretty grim. Meanwhile, the Bulls are down Hamilton again—but honestly, at this point, that's just becoming their standard routine.
Chicago has been absolutely tearing it up lately. They’ve cleared the hundred-point mark in their last three games—dropping 107, 113, and 110—so I’m betting they’ll easily blow past that 101 line tonight.
Here’s my pick: Chicago beats 101.5 any day of the week.
Charlotte to Salt Lake City.
Charlotte hasn't managed to pull off a single back-to-back win yet. Utah heads into a brutal road game in Philly in two days, so I’m expecting them to go all out tonight to secure the win. On top of that, Charlotte had a real grind against Orlando last night—the final score doesn't tell the whole story, they were gassed. Utah is scoring nearly 97 points a game lately, and honestly, I don't see Charlotte having the legs to play two high-intensity games in 48 hours. I'm calling it now: Utah covers the spread easily.
Here’s my pick: The Utah Jazz are down by six. Just another night of watching things go sideways.
The Philly to Boston run. Not exactly a scenic cruise.
Boston’s playing their fourth game in six days, and they’ve swept them all so far. Honestly? Philadelphia is rested, and I think they’ve got exactly what it takes to absolutely dismantle a tired Boston squad today.
Here’s my pick: Philly is down 4.5 points. Typical.
From D.C. to L.A.
After that disaster last night, I don't think there's any room for jokes anymore. It’s time to get serious and actually rein in Washington, which—let's be honest—is mostly just a mess.
Here’s my take: The H-7.5. Just another day in paradise.
The drive from Miami to Atlanta. A long haul through the heat and the humidity. Just another stretch of highway to get through.
Not much to say here. Miami had an easy night last night—I’m pretty sure LeBron didn't even step on the court for the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, Atlanta had a brutal grind against Indiana, and I think that took a real toll on them. I can't say for sure if they'll cover that 11-point spread, but with Miami, you never really know what to expect.
Here’s my pick: Miami.
Denver to Cleveland. Just another long haul across the map.
The team with the most scoring power? Honestly, I think they’re going to walk all over Cleveland tonight. Easy win.
