Webcam cable snapped in Computer Peripherals ·
It’s most likely soldered correctly since I followed the schematic exactly
but man, why is my computer still telling me it doesn't recognize the device?

Benjamin King2 said:Look, those video +/- wires are just your USB data lines, right? You've gotta hook them up to the green and white USB wires. For power, take that (+) wire and hit the red one on the USB. Then, just tie the negative (-) power wire together with that green wire and connect the whole mess to the black USB wire. I actually tore apart a laptop camera once that had five wires too—the positive was tied to the capacitor's plus, and two others went to the minus. You could try wiring it like that... but wait, did you even connect that green wire yet?

Yeah, I thought the video negative was just that one wire wrapped around the rest since the diagram shows it connected, but man, why does my PC keep throwing that "USB device not recognized" error at me?

Hey there!
So, my cat decided to go full chaos mode and chewed right through my webcam wire. I wasn't about to let that stop me, though, so I grabbed a USB extension cable and tried to solder everything back together following the diagram. Here's the thing: my PC actually sees the device, but then it throws a fit saying the driver failed to install. Now it’s just sitting there giving me that annoying "USB device not recognized" error. And yeah, I already tried reinstalling the software three different times. No luck.
I've got the power lines (+ and -), some random green wire, and the video signals (+ and -) all hooked up.
The camera itself is an old-school Logitech QuickCam e1000.
