If I grab this motherboard for about $200:

MSI Main Board Desktop AMD 970 (Socket AM3+, DDR3, SATA III,USB3.0,S/PDIF-out Optical,PS/2,Serial,USB2.0,LAN,Audio Line-Out,Audio Line-In,Microphone-In) ATX

What kind of processor should I pick up for $333?

So I definitely need a new motherboard too?

I’d probably pick up the processor now and wait about two months for the board if I have to...

Which CPU should I look at right now for under $333, and what kind of damage would a motherboard do to my wallet later on?

It's an Intel Celeron 2.6 GHz dual Core, if you really care...

It might be PCI, since I hooked up the 6670 just fine, same as the x1950.

I'll admit, I'm pretty clueless when it comes to PC hardware... lol

If anyone actually wants this x1950, shoot me an email. I don't need it anymore.

Also, if someone can help me out—I'm looking for a processor around $800...$333. Thinking about going new, but if buying used makes sense, let me know.

Dual core 2.60 GHz
ASUS P5G41T-M LX3 2
2 x 4GB DDR3
400W PSU
HD 6670 1 GB DDR5

It wasn't anything special, but it got me through my games
After it died, I slapped in some ancient relic just to get by
Now I want to upgrade to something decent$167 🙄 but the issue is there aren't many cards left for an AGP slot. Does anyone have a recommendation in this price range that isn't a downgrade from the x1650?

I recently swapped out an ATI Radeon x1950 256Mb for an HD 6670. If you actually want this old card, let me know because I was planning on tossing it anyway.

The card works fine.

Thanks for the tip, Benjamin King2. A few people have already pointed me in that direction, so I'm definitely leaning toward the HD 6670.

With that card, I shouldn't be sweating my 400W power supply, right?

Got a machine that’s basically a paperweight, and I need a new GPU for around $700...$267not looking for anything overkill.

Dual core 2.60 GHz
ASUS P5G41T-M LX3 2
2 GB DDR3 (one RAM slot still open)
400W PSU
Currently running an old ATI Radeon 1950 with 256 MB—it's ancient. Need an upgrade that won't force me to swap out the power supply.
I'm not asking for much...
Thanks.
