wanderingnomad13 said:What is this nonsense about not being allowed to touch my nose at all for several months?? Or that I can't blow my nose for ten days after surgery??

Tell me if I've got this wrong, but since my fifth day, I've been blowing my nose just fine like anyone else. If I hadn't, there's no way I could have cleared everything out... I've been breathing perfectly since the sixth day without any congestion. Today is day 12 post-op and my breathing is totally normal..
How am I supposed to not touch my nose for a month?? Even the doctor had to touch it while removing the splint... I wash it (on the outside) gently with a cotton swab and apply cream—very lightly, obviously, because the skin there is so dry.. I might have been a little too "rough" a few times, and then some experienced girls tell me it’s no big deal because my nose isn't made of paper, but now apparently I'm not even allowed to touch it?! What, is a light touch going to make it warp or change shape? It makes no sense..🤷

wanderingnomad13, I second everything you said. My doctor told me as soon as the splint came off on day ten that I could start blowing my nose again.

Today marks my fourth day since the surgery...
I accidentally hit my nose a bit too hard yesterday... then today I started laughing and just couldn't stop myself... 🙂 Then I felt this pain in my nose, and now I'm terrified I might have actually shifted something or something like that...??? I know the nose isn't made of paper, but still... I'm scared...🙂
Anyway, the bleeding finally stopped today, but I'm still breathing through only one nostril... Planning to start the rinsing once the molds are out (day 7)...
Any advice?? Please... thanks...

I can't seem to send you a private message... your inbox is probably full.
Hannah Baker23 said:Hey guys, quick question: is rinsing the nose with chamomile recommended? A friend who had the same nose surgery told me chamomile might be better than using an Aqua Maris spray...

The first night after getting the packing removed, I could breathe perfectly through both nostrils, but unfortunately, that was just for one night. Now, most of the time, both sides are stuffed up, or they take turns clogging. At first, it was dried blood, but now it seems to be mucus... I can feel it constantly draining down my throat. I honestly don't know if I caught some virus or if this is just normal...

On my doctor's recommendation, I used a few drops of olive oil to soften the scabs, so I didn't have any issues with them...

So far, I'm extremely satisfied. It’s barely been a month since the surgery, so I just hope there aren't any issues down the road... I'm glad he followed through on what we agreed upon. I had a follow-up with him two days ago, and he explained that my breathing on the left side isn't great yet because the septum is still swollen. He said everything should settle down within two months of the procedure. If I still can't breathe properly, he said he'll fix it immediately next month, but I need to be patient... he believes my breathing will return to normal...
I want to apologize to everyone who sent me a private message and didn't get a response. I'm new to this forum, so I honestly didn't even realize that feature existed... I've replied to all the messages now, so hopefully it isn't too late. Now that I know how this works, I'll be more careful in the future. My apologies again...
wanderingnomad13 said:Super!! How are you feeling? Any pain, or can you actually function and stuff?

I'm functioning perfectly after the surgery... haven't felt any pain at all. Felt great as soon as they took the tampons out. I also had chin liposuction done alongside the nose job, and so far, I'm beyond happy with the results.
I took the cast off yesterday and I’m honestly thrilled with how everything looks... the doctor did a fantastic job. He explained that because of the swelling, I still can't breathe through my left nostril, but told me not to worry since it should clear up in a few days.
Thanks Kimberly Hughes17 for the kind wishes. I'm removing the mold tomorrow, so I'll let you know if I'm happy with how it looks.
wanderingnomad13, obviously I can breathe through my right nostril, but the left side is still totally blocked. I have an appointment with Dr. Cikojević tomorrow to figure out what's going on. He used both open and closed techniques... it was a pretty intense surgery, so maybe that's why breathing is still such a struggle. Tomorrow marks ten days since the operation, so it's all still very recent...
Hey everyone, I've been lurking here for a while now, so I finally decided to share my own experience. I had nose surgery 7 days ago with Dr. Zambelli. So far, I'm happy with how the procedure went, but I won't be removing the nasal cast for another three days... After the surgery, the bruising was intense—my eyes were practically swollen shut from all the swelling—but by day 4, most of the bruises had cleared up. Even though I had the packing removed 4 days ago, breathing still isn't quite normal yet. I’ve been cleaning my nose with saline solution three times a day, since my doctor told me not to overdo it. I hope this helps someone out, because reading these posts was what finally gave me the courage to go through with it...
