Regarding those who had surgery at Chicago General... what’s the ward like? Are you stuck in rooms with five or more people, or is it more private? How's the food, the nursing staff? And for the smokers—how long did they make you go without a cigarette?
The unit is great. Rooms usually hold three people, and the nursing staff is wonderful. Honestly, you won't taste the food anyway with those nasal tampons in, though it is pretty meager. There’s a convenience store, a newsstand, and a decent restaurant across the street (well, it was a bar a few years back when I was here). My only gripe was staying in the ICU after surgery; you basically die of boredom there. So, those are my impressions.
