I had septoplasty surgery. 🙂
The breathing issues and frequent nosebleeds from the pressure were getting to be too much.

It was at Vinogradski, with Dr. Kalogjera... honestly, I think he's one of the best ENT specialists in America.

One day of prep + the surgery + five days of recovery. I had general anesthesia. On the first day after the procedure, there was enough pain that I needed an injection, but after two days, I was just taking Advil and that was pretty much it.

In my experience, how you react to anesthesia really depends on the person. For instance, the night before surgery, I had a Chicago-style pizza around 5 AM, and then I had a cigarette in the morning (I’m smarter now and don't smoke anymore), and I didn't have any side effects at all. It was the same with my other surgeries... basically, anesthesia is a breeze for me, whereas my husband almost threw up his stomach during both of his operations—it was like something out of a horror movie.

There was a woman with me who was undergoing "full nose reconstruction"—you know, when they break it and have to put it back together. 🙂
With her swollen face, dark circles all over, and constant tearing from her eyes... I don't know how she felt, but she looked terrible.

Everyone has to make their own choice. Some corrections can be painful, but some people really do have issues with their noses, and if they want to change them, why not?
