P.S. In America, we find both our joy and our sorrow through soulful blues music. 😛
Well, if you say so,
👍 🙂

P.P.S. I have to admit I had some totally unfounded prejudices against this guy, but then I actually heard him sing, and thank God my bias didn't win out, because otherwise I would have never known what I was missing.
Are you seriously taking a jab at me because of those old stereotypes? 🙂 Because I’ve heard him sing too, and honestly, I’m not a fan! 🙂 🤣Drew Lewis2 said::s :S :D Oh, please, just play it a hundred times over.
Fine. Just don't come crying to me later when you regret it! 🤣Drew Lewis2 said:Ugh, :( That sounds awful. What exactly makes a traditional funeral service different?
I attended one about two years ago.
To start with, it was held out in a rural area near a small town, and I was there with the women; typically, the women and girls don't participate in the formal ritual part, they just mourn privately on the sidelines.
In reality, though—fundamentally—it isn't any different from any other American funeral. It's just soul music and mourning.Drew Lewis2 said:fdc

Jamie Davis9 said:Personally, I don't have a single bone to pick with capitalism.
The way I see it, just as things felt relatively decent under the old socialized systems we used to have, modern capitalism isn't all bad either.
People around here have always been professional complainers, usually about absolutely nothing at all. 🤷
Take me, for instance; as a public servant, I earn a perfectly respectable wage for just a few hours of work. I have everything I need, and if I play my cards right, I'll have a condo in downtown Chicago within a few years—though that earthquake a while back did mess with my budget quite a bit, but I suppose that’s just one of those unavoidable acts of God. 😬
Anyway, I built my own life from the ground up without a dime of help from my old man, who was likely just as much of a deadbeat as I am; he’s down South somewhere, probably too busy dealing with idiots instead of maintaining any properties, eventually leaving whatever scraps he has to his kids.
Because let me tell you, managing those rental units is a massive headache, not to mention dealing with the endless stream of tourists and other absolute nuisances.
Honestly, most of us couldn't care less.
And besides, how can you actually teach your children anything if you just hand them everything on a silver platter?
Regardless, I have what I want and all the time in the world to enjoy it. I absolutely loathe the whole "eight hours for work, eight for sleep, eight for play" grind; the idea is genuinely revolting to me. I spend my days doing exactly what I feel like doing.
But look at the United States, the supposed bastion of hardcore capitalism, and you'll see it's impossible to live like that. There, you end up grinding twelve-hour shifts for some boss and trying to convince yourself it's somehow acceptable.
This place remains the final stronghold of anarchy, freedom, wildness, and sunshine. 🙂
Anyone looking for a quick buck should just head to Dubai for a few years and get into escorting. It might be a little late for me, but you're still young enough to make that move. 😛

For example, it's certainly important to vote.
Drew Lewis2, I know I've mentioned him a hundred times already, but what can I do when I'm just that fond of him? 🙄 😁

So, in that spirit...
