Austin Scott25 said:Man, I wish I could just get a quick fix for my bump too...🙂 I’m guessing the price tag is basically the same whether they just tweak the bridge or do a full rhinoplasty? And yeah—did they put you under general anesthesia or just local?

I went with the local...👍
And honestly? It’s true... you hear all these weird, uncomfortable sounds, but there isn't any actual pain. I spent the whole time just chatting away with the doctor. 😂
He was actually explaining everything he was doing—since I asked him to— 😲 which apparently surprised him, since he couldn't believe I wanted to know the details.
If it’s not some massive, complicated surgery, I’d recommend local anesthesia to anyone.

I had a minor procedure myself, but boy, did it end up being a huge expense. 🙄
Maria Howard27 said:hey everyone🙂

Has anyone here gone in just for a "hump reduction"?😁

Look, I don't want anyone touching the tip of my nose—not the width, not the length—I just have this bump on my profile (😢) and I want them to just smooth that out. Is that actually a thing? What’s the process like? And does it hurt like hell?

I'm honestly pretty terrified because I know a girl who had nose surgery—like, her entire nasal structure was reworked—and she was in absolute agony, and get this, she's still feeling it even four months later...😢😢

In my case, they just filed down the hump without messing with the actual bridge at all...
Recovery was quick and easy—literally just a week—though I did manage to wander around a mall while still wearing my splint 😍.
To be totally honest, getting a wisdom tooth pulled felt way worse than having my nose smoothed out 😂.
Mine was a very minor correction! (Though, full disclosure, it hasn't fully healed after two months yet; I still have some swelling right where the old hump used to be)
Guys... has anyone else actually noticed when someone gets nose surgery?

Because honestly, nobody has even suspected a thing about me. Even when I tell people directly that I went under the knife, they just look at me totally confused and ask what my nose even looked like before!
Elizabeth Bennett15 said:My stitches ended up coming loose right after the second month, but honestly, it’s the color and this weird, stiff, woody sensation that really has me worried...

Mine feels just as wooden to the touch—and incredibly painful... if I accidentally bump into anything, it’s like seeing stars for a second there...😢
Bryan Gomez27 said:It feels like almost everyone ends up with some kind of bump after surgery. I think someone mentioned they happen because the bone gets broken, so I'm wondering—what happens if they just grind the bone down without actually breaking it? Do those bumps still show up then?

In my case, my nose just feels... sanded down. And I mean literally sanded, like when you use an emery board on a nail 😲. I know this because they did mine under local anesthesia and... yeah, I have a bump. But honestly, it seems to be getting smaller and smaller—or maybe it's just how I'm looking at it.
I don't think you can even see it from a direct profile view anymore; now you can only catch it from a three-quarter angle....
So, it’s pretty obvious that the nose keeps changing shape. I had my procedure about two months ago.
It still hurts whenever I touch it, and the stitches haven't fallen out yet.

Does anyone actually know when the stitches in your nose are supposed to come out?
wanderingbadger94 said:Look, my procedure was actually one of the tougher ones—it wasn't just about filing down the bone, they had to deal with some fractures too, which meant I dealt with pretty massive bruising... After 14 days, once the cast came off, you could barely even see the bruising anymore. Honestly, depending on the person, you should be fine to go out in 2 or 3 weeks. For instance, the girl who was in surgery with me barely had any bruising at all; hers cleared up in about 8 days. But in my experience, give it a maximum of 3 weeks. The swelling from removing the cast usually goes down after a week, but let's be real—the full recovery takes anywhere from 6 months to a whole year. It’s been 7 months since my surgery and I’m only just now seeing the true shape of my nose, and even then, the doctor mentioned it might still look a bit flat or settle further over time. 😁

Hey, why did they have to break yours?
They only filed down the bumps for me... and now it feels like there's still this tiny bump visible, though it's probably just swelling—kind of feels like extra flesh sitting there...🙄
My surgery was about a month and a half ago... and I'm really hoping that bump disappears... at least, that's what the doctor promised...
They didn't do any kind of indentation on mine either...

Hey everyone!
I had my nose done back in August last year at a private clinic over in Arcadia.
I’m actually really happy with the results—especially how my profile looks now. However, I’ve always had these wide nostrils, and honestly, they still bother me. I wanted to get your take: should I go through with narrowing them down?
The doctor mentioned he’d do it for free, since it’s already covered under the initial cost.
My only hesitation is that they have to make small incisions, which leaves tiny little scars... but seriously, they feel huge to me—like actual pits!
I’d really value some honest opinions here. What do you think of my nose, and would you personally opt for that extra procedure?

If you ask me, there's no need to mess with the nostrils.
They just stick out a tiny bit from the side—you can see it if you look inside the nose, but it’s negligible. They aren't actually big, and I suspect once the swelling fully subsides and everything settles, it'll look perfect—though even now, it's fine.
I actually had my nose done too, and mine are even wider, though more elongated.
From what I gather, your main issue was the bump, and you've successfully fixed that—now you have a lovely, cute little nose.😉
So, that's just my two cents.😉
Maria Diaz79 said:I’m guessing those larger swellings—those little lumps—are just where the surgeon had to grind down the bone the most. And who told you it would clear up after three months anyway?🙂

Actually, it isn't really a lump per se, more like swelling right where my old bump used to be—about an inch below the brow line.
When I touch it, it feels like actual flesh or tissue is there, rather than just feeling the bone directly under the skin.
My doctor told me to leave it alone—no touching, no massaging—claiming it’ll subside... basically using that classic line, "you know, swelling can last two to three months."
(Though, if I recall correctly, I’ve read that some doctors actually recommend gentle massage).
But then, when I can't help myself and poke at it just a little bit😁, the whole area seems to turn bright red...🤷

Maybe it really is better to just leave it be...😵
Maria Diaz79 said:I've got it too. That spot actually hurts a little if I touch it—did they break a rib or something?

Hey... wait, where exactly is your lump? Is it right where that old bump used to be?
The whole area around my old bump feels slightly swollen—honestly, I look like I’ve still got the bump, just a bit more subtle😢

Supposedly this lasts for up to three months... and then things should flatten out completely🙂
At least, that's what I'm praying happens🙂
So, I’ve run into a bit of an issue.
About a month ago, I finally went through with surgery to fix a small bump on my nose.
Now, the bump looks smaller—which is good—but it hasn't completely vanished yet. 😢
When I touch the area, it feels kind of swollen and a little soft to the touch.
Has anyone else dealt with something similar? If you have, how long did it take for that swelling to actually subside?
My doctor told me it should clear up in about one or two months, but I guess we'll see.

Thanks! 🙂

To be honest, my experience with the post-op recovery has been so seamless that it’s almost like I never even had the surgery—I don't feel any different at all, and honestly, nobody has even noticed my new nose. 🤷
Morgan Carter83 said:I’m actually gearing up for surgery myself quite soon 🙂
Namely—I had a bit of an accident recently, and even though my nose didn't look broken at first glance, it turns out it definitely was.
The septum is fractured and sitting all crooked now, plus there's a break in the nasal bone itself, so everything is just... off.
Now I have to wait a while for the swelling and bruising to settle down before they can go back in, tear things apart, and put it all back together properly.
I've decided to go through with a septorhinoplasty. It seems pointless to just fix the septum now only to have to deal with those bones again later.
Following some recommendations, I've landed on Dr. Uglešić from the Mayo Clinic, and I really liked his approach to the whole situation—it isn't even about any psychological stuff for me, I just genuinely need my nose straightened out.

Does anyone here have actual experience with Dr. Uglešić, or maybe some insight into his surgical style?

.. from what I've heard, Uglešić is a specialist when it comes to jaw reconstruction (post-accident or for aesthetics) and that's where he focuses most of his work...
Hey everyone—does anyone have a rough idea of how many days I should realistically take off work after surgery? Is one week enough?

I know it’s a bit subjective depending on the situation, but I’m just looking for a baseline minimum... I don't deal with customers or people face-to-face anyway, which helps, I suppose.
placidmoose said:Gosh, I honestly don't know about the general anesthesia—that was my absolute biggest fear, to be honest. Luckily, right before my surgery, I found out they were giving me the general stuff, so there was no turning back at that point. Anyway, they rarely give local anesthesia for this kind of nose job. They told me there was zero chance of doing it locally because I'd just end up feeling all the blood draining down my throat... I guess local is only an option for really minor cosmetic tweaks...🤷

During my consultation, the doctor told me they didn't even need to touch my nasal bridge much since it's so narrow, so apparently, local anesthesia could work... whatever that actually means...
But I still have this tiny little bump... and I can already imagine—I can practically feel it right now—how they're going to scrape at it while I'm wide awake... oh man...

Oh well... everyone keeps saying it'll be worth it in the end...
Thanks for getting back to me—I’ll probably just head down to the local clinic nearby, honestly, it's much less of a hassle for me...

Oh, and one more thing... my nose is constantly COLD... it loses heat incredibly fast and takes forever to warm back up :/
Has anyone else dealt with this? Like, did you find that after your surgery, things finally started to "warm up" a bit?
Anesthesia? Are we talking local or general?
What’s your take on the best way to go?
I mean, obviously, it all depends on what kind of procedure you're facing—that's just common sense—but it seems to me like most of the people on this forum (maybe even some of the guys, too) ended up opting for general anesthesia... and honestly, that whole idea just gives me the creeps.
Has anyone here actually had to get their blood type and Rh factor checked before going under for surgery???
Does anyone happen to know where I can go to get this done quickly?

I’m not entirely certain, but from what I gather, the local Mayo Clinic doesn't handle this specific thing.

Thanks in advance!
