Swollen lymph node above the collarbone in Health ·
Thanks so much for getting back to me... Honestly, I’ve been a total wreck all day, just spiraling because I feel like I'm going to drive myself crazy from the sheer stress of this whole thing...
So, I actually went to see two different on-call doctors today just to get a second opinion, and the folks at the ER basically told me it was nothing—like, they said they could feel it, sure, but it’s tiny, so there's really no reason to panic. They suggested I should probably check my iron levels instead, since I've always struggled with low iron; my primary doctor usually just prescribes some supplements, I take them, everything seems fine, and then a few months later it crashes again, though I think I'm okay for now, mostly because I'm hitting the gym two or three times a day and that absolutely drains me. The other doctor told me it’s just a little gland and could be caused by a thousand different things, saying there's a 90% chance it's nothing at all, but she recommended I get a CT scan just to be safe. I can actually feel the lump when I palpate it, and honestly, I think it's even smaller than they say, maybe around 5mm, and there's another even tinier one right next to it... man, I really hope it isn't anything serious, but you can't help the fear, can you?🙂

So, I was at the ophthalmology clinic today and the doctor tells me I’ve got some kind of strabismus. He spent all of three minutes staring at me through a bunch of gadgets before basically telling me to go see a specialist at a strabology clinic next week.
From what I gather, myositis is an inflammation of the muscle, not some weird thickening issue.🤷
And as for the double vision, I’ve honestly never had any eye issues in my life, and this whole situation stays exactly the same, so 🤷

Maria Fisher46 said:Look, folks,

The symptoms you're describing could definitely point toward some weakness—specifically a paresis—in one of those external eye muscles. But honestly, without an actual physical exam, it’s impossible to say for sure if that's what's going on or if there's some other underlying reason why you're seeing double.

What you really need to do is schedule a full ophthalmology clinic visit and get a specialized strabology clinic evaluation—basically, you need to see an eye specialist who focuses specifically on strabismus and pediatric ophthalmology. And you should absolutely make sure they perform a Hess-Lancaster test to check those double images.

Your best bet is to find a major medical center, maybe somewhere like Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, that actually has a dedicated strabology clinic on staff. Just have your primary care doctor write you a referral for that specific type of specialist workup.

thanks so much for taking the time to explain all this, I'm heading to see some specialists over at Cedars-Sinai next week so I'll definitely keep all this in mind.
I just really hope it isn't anything too serious.

I mean, come on, it can't be that nobody knows a single thing about this.🤷
Seriously though, please, throw whatever info you have my way because I’m such a massive hypochondriac that I’ve already managed to convince myself I’m carrying around a literal ton of different diseases.🙂

😕hey everyone, what's up?
I was wondering if anyone else here deals with something similar to my situation, or if anyone actually knows what this diagnosis might be:
So, I'm 22, and for a few years now—honestly, I can't even tell you when it started—I've been getting double vision whenever I look toward the right side, even when my head stays perfectly still. It doesn't happen instantly either; it’s more like once I hit those last few degrees of my field of vision, the image from my left eye just sort of "slips downward."
It gets way more obvious when I'm looking at things close up, like staring at my laptop screen or whatever.
It isn't totally ruining my life or anything, but I think I'm going to go see an ophthalmologist in the next few days because the more I dig into this online, the more it feels like I've somehow managed to catch a million different diseases at once.🙂
Anyway, if anyone has gone through something like this or has any insight, please let me know. Thanks!
