Monitor recommendations around $130? in Computer Peripherals ·
feralhound said:Since I haven't really kept up with computer hardware lately—which of these would you recommend? And are LED monitors actually an upgrade over standard LCDs?

Of course they're better. Less heat, lower power draw, superior image quality—plus they're easier on the eyes. Isn't almost every new technology an improvement? 🙂If you have the cash for an LED, go for it—it's a no-brainer.

The old man did his research and we grabbed this one.

And I'm posting here just so I don't start another pointless thread.

A monitor around $833—what should I actually look for? Any real best buys at that price point?

Start a new thread next time—this is drifting way too far off-topic. These two threads have absolutely nothing to do with each other. 😉
Even though this is an older thread and technically off-topic, I'll give you an answer anyway.

That link doesn't work anymore. What matters when buying a monitor? Pretty much everything. Response time, brand, contrast, brightness... and obviously the screen size. My advice? Go with Apple. I consider Apple to be the top choice for monitors.
A best buy? In my opinion, http://www.bestbuy.com/article-100.332.049 is more expensive $17 than what you mentioned. I doubt that'll be an issue, though 😁. Plus, it comes with a built-in TV tuner.
External hard drive running hot? in Computer Peripherals ·
Angela Perez69 said:I have a Seagate Expansion Desktop (2TB) and the temperature regularly hits 50C! Is that actually acceptable? My old Seagate One Touch (250GB) never goes above 35C....

Heh. You mean 2 TB? 😁 😁 I haven't heard of anyone being able to buy a 2 GB hard drive these days. 😁 😁
That temperature is way too high for that drive—it's definitely not okay. Something is clearly wrong. If it's still under warranty, you should contact support immediately.
