Unfortunately, since this involves a kidney, things get super messy, and there isn't really a set playbook for treating HCV in cases like yours. Using immunosuppressants just ends up driving those viral loads even higher. Antiviral therapy usually isn't on the table unless you're looking at some pretty rare exceptions. For now, I guess your best bet is just regular check-ups and hoping for the best. I can't really offer anything more insightful than that.

Thanks so much for getting back to me. My doctors mentioned using Soval combined with ribavirin instead of interferon because the cure rate is supposedly higher—does that actually make sense?
Maria Fisher46 said:Your question doesn't really clarify what kind of transplant we're talking about, or if you had an HCV infection before the procedure. Are we talking about a liver transplant?

It's actually a kidney transplant. I guess I'm not even sure if I had that infection back then, since I was on dialysis about twenty years ago and didn't get the transplant until later. I'm just asking because I know interferon isn't for everyone, so I guess any advice you have would be pretty helpful.
Maria Fisher46 said:Dear Sir,

this result shows you have high viremia, meaning there's a huge amount of viral particles in your blood. You're sitting at over 4 million international units per milliliter, which is a really high number. Viremia is a major predictor for how well treatment works and helps track progress. When viremia is lower, the chances of success with interferon treatment are much better.

Hey there,

thanks so much for getting back to me. So, does this mean the results aren't actually showing if my condition is getting better or worse, but just predicting the odds of the treatment working? Since I've had a transplant, I'm guessing interferon treatment isn't even on the table for me. Is there anything I can do on my own—maybe through diet or something else—to help bring those viral levels down? Thanks in advance.
Just got my quantitative HCV RNA test results back and saw this: HCV RNA IU/mL 4.27E+6
I’m kind of tripping because I have no clue what this actually means—like, is this a good number or a bad one? The lab report only lists the lower limit, not the upper bound. Does anyone actually know how to read this? Thanks!
