Sure, you can pick up an external drive, but I already have the hardware—I just need the enclosure. It’s like having a spare hard drive sitting around and wanting to turn it into a portable one. Since we’re talking about 5.25", we're clearly referring to the full-sized optical drives—the kind you'd find in a desktop tower, not some slim laptop tray.
I also noticed they stopped putting LightScribe in laptops altogether... you can't even find them for sale anymore. Apparently, I'm the last man standing still using LS...

Does anyone know where I can pick one of these up, new or used? I need to hook a DVD-RW drive to my laptop via USB, but I want it to actually look like a legitimate device. Right now, it’s just a mess of a USB-to-SATA converter wired directly to my PC power supply. I found a guy listing one on Craigslist, but the stats seem sketchy—over 400 views for a single item feels suspicious.

Go ahead, do what you want if nobody's there to stop you... I'm joking. But seriously, how can you just play doctor and decide your own dosages? And why even bother with those cocktails? Mixing Tylenol, Valium, and alcohol is a brilliant strategy, if you're looking for trouble.
My advice? See an actual doctor who can prescribe something sensible based on an actual diagnosis—assuming you even have one.
