Insulin pump advice needed in Health ·
Hey everyone!
My little girl was diagnosed with diabetes when she was just 5 years old—so, about four years ago now.
We switched her over to an insulin pump two years ago, and honestly? It’s been a total game-changer for us.
Before that, her blood sugar was all over the place; we’re talking swinging from a nasty hypo to a massive hyper in like ten minutes flat.
Back then, our doctor asked if we wanted to look into getting a pump.
I told her I needed some time to wrap my head around it before deciding.
So, I spent some time lurking on forums, and everywhere I looked, people were raving about them.
Long story short, we pulled the trigger.
Within a month, we went through training and... boom... we had it.
It wasn't easy at first while we were still figuring out the ropes.
But her numbers are way more stable now. Sure, she still deals with highs and lows, but it's nowhere near what it used to be.
Think about this: instead of doing 5 or 6 shots every single day, we just swap out the set every 3 to 5 days... do the math!!
It is such a massive relief for a kid!!
She carries a little pouch around her waist even when she sleeps, but that’s really the least of our worries.
I know plenty of people turn down the pump because they think it looks "obvious" or gets in the way of daily life.
Trust me, you are dead wrong!
The pump is absolutely fantastic!
If anyone has questions, just shoot!
