Is there seriously nobody here with an answer? Or even just a quick thought based on what you've been through? This was completely out of left field
and honestly, I expected more from the biggest forum in the States.
Just great. I can't wait for the next disaster so I can share that with you all too :klap:

Actually, that’s not quite what I’m getting at. I don't really need to convert everything to editable text, so I can skip the OCR entirely. I want the text to stay exactly as it is—basically just as an image—because I have zero intention of editing the content later. What I actually need is a way to generate a Table of Contents based on all those scanned images once I've dropped them into Word. In short? I just need a table of contents for my images.

I've got this massive scan—around 500 pages—and I really need to convert it into a Word doc so I can build a functional TOC and actually navigate the thing. It's pretty urgent for work. Just to be clear, I'm no stranger to Microsoft Word; I know my way around the commands and tools just fine. But when it comes to images? I'm hitting a wall. I can easily make a TOC for a standard typed document, but how on earth do you handle this with scans?

My apologies in advance! I was rushing to get this posted and ended up dropping it in the wrong section. Feel free to delete it, and I'll move it over to where it belongs. I see now that it should have gone under 🙄
So, here's my dilemma: I'm struggling to generate a table of contents for a document that's nothing but scanned pages from an old book. Just to be clear, I’m not exactly a novice when it comes to Microsoft Word—I know my way around the commands and tools—but I'm hitting a total brick wall now that I'm dealing with images instead of text. I can easily handle a standard typed document, but how on earth am I supposed to manage this with scans?
