I have to make a big decision tomorrow regarding where to move my 82-year-old grandmother following her recent stay at a major hospital in Chicago. Her internal medicine doctor is requesting permission to transfer her to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, which they are recommending as a specialized hospital for extended care.
I’ve honestly never heard a single word about this facility before. My grandmother is diabetic, and she was originally admitted just for a diagnostic test involving contrast dye. Since then, things have taken a turn for the worse; she went from walking slowly—just one step per minute—all the way to the car, to being completely immobile. To top it all off, she managed to suffer a mild heart attack during those five days in the hospital. Now, the recommendation is to move her to that specific facility in Duga Resa. If anyone has any insight or personal experience with them, please let me know.
Cancer, Chemotherapy, and Exercise in Health ·
It’s possible that for those who haven't dealt with metastasis, they might not have endured the sheer terror of chemotherapy or had everything caught early enough. In many cases, a person is practically considered healthy, yet there's always that underlying, quiet fear lurking in the back of their mind about a recurrence or something surfacing elsewhere. Still, exercising in and of itself isn't going to cause any harm, though personally, I don't believe it will actually improve the situation. Cancer is much like weeds; you can pull them out by the roots, but there is never any real guarantee that they won't just sprout up again somewhere else.
