West Point faculty speech restrictions in Politics ·
It's pretty wild that the Pentagon is trying to micromanage what professors can say. If you stop experts from speaking their minds, you're basically just creating an echo chamber for leadership. Does this kind of censorship actually make our military stronger or just more blind?
wiredmarlin5 said:Well, you could have just said so right from the start! 😬

In my humble opinion, here is how I see it:

GIGABYTE GA-EP43-DS3 - $178
Pentium E5300 Pentium - $162
Corsair CX400W - $117
2x1 GB PC6400 Kingmax - $56
Gigabyte Radeon HD 4670 512MB DDR3 - $156
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12, ST3500418AS 500GB - $120
Any SATA DVD RW drive you prefer - $50

$838, along with whatever case you like, plus a keyboard and mouse.

Thanks for getting back to me. If it isn't too much trouble to ask, do you happen to know a local computer shop that carries all these components so I can go in and show them exactly what I'm looking for? 😁

EDIT

I actually found everything at Micro Center except for the Corsair CX400W.

EDIT 2

My apologies, and thank you—it turns out I was able to find everything I need at Micro Center after all. Thanks again, truly! <3

The thing is, I'm looking to pick up a setup for roughly $1000. I've been torn between these two options:
MBO iG31 / iICH7, DDR2, audio, VGA, S-ATA, G-LAN, PCI-E, mATX, socket 775
CPU Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200 BOX, socket 775, 2.5GHz, 2MB cache, FSB 800MHz, 64-bit, DualCore
RAM PC-6400, 2 GB, DDR2 800 MHz
VGA PCI-E ATI Radeon 4550 HD, 512MB DDR3, DVI, HDTV
HDD 1000.0 GB SATA, 32MB cache, 7200 RPM, desktop grade
DVD±RW 22x, black, SATA, Dual layer, DVD-RAM, bulk
Case LC POWER 652B, MIDI, black, 420W ATX
Keyboard Logitech Deluxe 250, black, OEM, PS/2

Speakers Logitech 2.0 black, OEM
Cooler Arctic Cooling Alpine 7 GT, socket 775
Fan Arctic Cooling Fan Pro TC, 80mm, 10-23dB

# 1x Motherboard socket 775, MSI, G31M3-L V2 VGA, FSB1333, DDR2 800, PCIe, A.7.1
# 1x CPU Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200, 2.5 GHz, 775 64-bit, L2 Cache 2MB, 800MHz, BOX
# 1x RAM PC DDR2-800, 2GB, CL5 (128Mx16), 240pin, takeMS
# 1x CASE Cooler Master, Elita 334 Middle Tower, 420W PSU, black
# 1x DVD RW PHILIPS SPD2514BM, DVDR 18x, DVDR DL 8x, DVD RW 8x, SATA, black, bulk

# 1x HDD Hitachi 500 GB Deskstar, 7,200 RPM 16MB, SATA II/300
I've been wondering lately, which one would actually be the better pick: the PALIT GF9500GT SILENT SUPER+/1GB HDMI or the ATI Radeon 4550 HD? Thanks! 👍

I'm with Edward Flores4 on this one.
Look at the US... Bush pulls off two wins by leaning hard into terrorism paranoia and other nonsense. He loses the coasts (where the educated folks live), but those rural voters in the Midwest carry him. Honestly, if uneducated people weren't allowed to vote, things would never have gone down that way.

Perfectly put!👍

Spit blindly without an explanation? If something is self-evident, you shouldn't have to overexplain it. In his post, he claims he isn't a fan of how the voting system works in a democracy—which is fine—but then he takes this weird turn with his metaphor, only to circle back at the end and simply restate that he doesn't like it. That’s where the paradox lies. He clearly doesn't realize it, and honestly, neither do you.
Here is a little hint for you: pay attention to the metaphor.

though it feels like the sheer amount of paperwork involved in a setup like that would be an absolute nightmare...

But wouldn't it work? Think about it—testing happens during those gaps between elections (so, every four years, basically) and only applies to adults. In high school, you already take standardized tests like the SATs, which essentially cover the basics, so there'd be no need to re-test every single new generation from scratch.

It’s kind of wild when you think about it—to get a driver's license in the US, you have to pass a medical exam, show a decent IQ, nail a psych evaluation, complete driver's ed, and then pass both a written and practical exam before a board...
...yet when it comes to deciding the fate of our entire nation and its political direction, we don't even require people to be literate.🙄

If the bureaucracy and the whole procedure for getting behind the wheel works this smoothly... I just don't see why we couldn't implement a much simpler, yet infinitely more vital, process for casting a vote.🤷

It seems pretty obvious that we go to great lengths to keep idiots off the road, but we're perfectly fine letting them call the shots for the whole country!?

Honestly, you're just talking in circles and stubbornly trying to link two things that have no business being connected. Your way of (not) thinking is a perfect example of why democracy can never fully function as intended.
