Home medicine cabinet essentials in Health ·
hiddenmarlin14 said:Sure, they exist. But there’s nothing quite like a toothache—the kind where you feel like your head is actually going to explode—only to realize you don't have a single aspirin in the house. Then you’re stuck driving to the nearest 24-hour CVS at 2 AM... after a three-day ordeal. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. 🙂

yeah 🙂
all you'll find outside a 24-hour pharmacy is a bunch of lonely Christmas trees 😲
I rarely need meds, but when something finally goes wrong, it’s always—of course—in the middle of the night.
unbelievable 🤷

Gauze and Band-Aids are total lifesavers—I learned that the hard way after a nasty fall at home where I had to move fast with some antiseptic and gauze to stop the bleeding..

I'm curious about what everyone keeps in their medicine cabinets—everything from standard meds to those natural remedies people swear by for when things go sideways.
I was checking my own stash yesterday and realized I’ve mostly got sterile gauze, Band-Aids, aspirin, Tylenol, St. John's Wort, aloe vera cream, rubbing alcohol, Voltaren, and about a million different kinds of tea.
Is there anything else a person actually needs to have on hand?
To be clear, I'm not talking about prescriptions for specific illnesses—just the general stuff you keep around for prevention or minor mishaps.
🙂
She mostly just finished her first round of chemo.
She’s holding up incredibly well—really, she is. I felt fine during the visit, but once I left, I just started shaking.
Seriously, though, what that treatment does to a person... she was hooked up to that infusion for twelve hours straight...
Her face went completely gray—her lips were practically gone, they were just so pale...
And that’s only, you know, the beginning...
She headed home today, totally wiped out—can't even sit up properly anymore...

I don't know. Right now, I'm focusing on raising money for Noni juice—doing something tangible helps me feel a little more grounded.
So sorry for your loss.... 😢
Update: she went in for a bone marrow biopsy—actually just to see if the lymphoma has spread.
She was crying and screaming from the pain—apparently there’s no anesthesia that actually touches bone pain—and after they were done, she had to lie there in the hospital for about two hours.
They did a CT scan of her upper body, too; now they need an ultrasound of her neck and heart.
I'm shaking... honestly, I'm terrified... dreading the results. It made me so happy to hear her lungs were clear, but now I'm just spiraling, panicking about what else they might find.
It kills me to see her suffering like this when the real fight hasn't even started. I have no idea what to expect from chemotherapy—what that's even going to look like. And it drives me crazy how people bombard her with useless information and lists of every possible side effect chemo might cause. Like she needs to hear that right now. Like it’s somehow helpful.
She’s strong and holding it together, but she’s obviously struggling. There's no point in her knowing every single detail—it just leads to visualization, overthinking, and all that unnecessary fear and anxiety... more stress she doesn't need.

Though, I didn't handle things perfectly yesterday either...
She tried to talk to me about how she’s feeling, what she’s scared of—talking about maybe not being able to have kids one day, or losing her hair... and I just... I don't know. I tried to tell her it wasn't worth worrying about things we don't know yet. That she needs to focus on positive outcomes. That she'll recover 100%, that she shouldn't even think about the bad stuff. And she just shut down—she basically ended the conversation right there.
And I just felt like I failed her.
Update — I set up an appointment at ExxonMobil for some orthomolecular diagnostics. Our Association pooled enough funds to cover this testing—it's pretty pricey. $1133
I’m just hoping this gives us enough insight to help a friend tweak her diet and supplements; she needs to stay strong since chemo is right around the corner.
Speaking of which, people are driving me crazy. They keep treating her like she's already a walking ghost, and honestly, it's exhausting. It’s hitting her hard. I keep telling everyone to just act normal—like she’s perfectly healthy. She’s going to pull through—we have to believe that—especially since there are no metastases and her odds are actually great. She just needs to keep her head up and not slip into pessimism.
I'm worried about how the chemo will hit her. Is the hair loss really unavoidable???
I think it's going to take a massive toll on her mentally... 😢
She’s always been so proud of her hair. Losing it is going to be brutal...
Just awful...

Has anyone heard of Calivita? No one seems to have answered me yet...
I was thinking about trying their syrup to see if it helps manage some of the chemo symptoms...

What else should we be bracing for? What's coming next?
Are the nauseasies that bad right from the start?

He doesn't take Medicare—but he’s super, super, super good.
Hey, just wanted to ask...

I came across some Noni syrup that's supposedly good for easing chemo side effects and nausea
Anyone have any advice?

Also, has anyone heard of Simex clinics?
Lara, I'm so sorry for your loss 😢
My best friend was just diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma.
I can never remember how to spell it—I always have to Google it and then, like an idiot, copy and paste it back. The word itself just feels wrong—I can't even wrap my head around it properly.
She’s facing chemo now. She hasn't started yet, but she’s got this endless marathon of tests lined up to see if it’s spread to any other organs.
I honestly don't know what's coming...
I had so much I wanted to say, but now I'm just empty.
We only found out yesterday. She spent the whole day in total denial, insisting she’ll be out partying before we know it...
I'm seeing her today, and I need to hold it together—for her sake and because she needs me there.
I have to face this—being strong and positive doesn't mean ignoring reality or being delusional.
She has to face it too, obviously—the doctor said it's treatable, but they have to go all in to get her healthy again...
Yesterday, I just broke down crying. It doesn't feel real. She was finally starting to feel truly happy, too.
But dwelling on "what ifs" won't help. This happened. It is what it is. Now, there's just the fight.
My stomach has been in knots all day.
Honestly, nothing hits harder than this feeling of helplessness—not knowing what happens next, or how bad it's going to get...
