Unfortunately, in the US, we don't actually see the level of preventative care people claim to talk about. If you show up to a doctor with something that isn't full-blown cancer yet—just a "simple" growth or lesion—our doctors often just sit on their hands. Instead of acting, they'll just schedule follow-ups for three months, then six months... basically dragging their feet until the diagnosis finally hits: you have cancer. They could have easily just cut it out while it was still a benign tumor. I'm speaking from personal experience here.
