I recently found myself sitting in a urologist's office dealing with some incredibly annoying sebaceous gland inflammation on my scrotum. To make matters worse, the doctor decided the best course of action was a series of follow-up appointments to monitor the progress. I recall being near the end of this ordeal—perhaps during the third or fourth visit—lying there completely exposed on the exam table, waiting for the physician to enter. Suddenly, a group of about eight or ten nurses burst into the room, deep in a heated discussion regarding union negotiations. It was an utterly surreal scene: there I was, naked and vulnerable, while they stood surrounding me, debating labor unions and collective bargaining. Honestly, if it hadn't been for the discomfort, I might have considered offering a bit of visual assistance to brighten their day, but the pain made such a gesture impossible. I did contemplate it, truly, but any attempt at an erection would have pulled at the medical tape, which in turn would have yanked at my pubic hair and sent the whole painful process right back to square one. In the grand scheme of things, I suppose medical students need practical experience, and we must all contribute to the advancement of science; however, in my specific case, it felt like everyone was merely contributing to the union meeting.
Honestly, reading through all of that is going to be such an exhausting ordeal that one might just end up suffering from some internal distress as well.
Jack Hayes35 said:I’ve been dealing with chronic external hemorrhoids since 2006. Back then, it was just a single one, but after about a year, two more popped up, so now I’m managing three of them all at once.
I tried using Ultraproct ointment, but over the last year, I’ve been switching things up with a combination of Preparazione-H and Hemopropin. The issue is they only seem to dull the pain; they don't actually make the hemorrhoids recede. In fact, I have one that keeps turning into this little 5mm sac.
That little sac tends to fill up with blood sometimes, especially if I indulge in something spicy or have a glass of red wine, which makes it quite painful.
My diet is heavy on fruits and vegetables, and my bowel movements are very regular every morning.
After I go, my anal area swells up significantly, though it does settle down after a few hours.
I’m starting to lose faith in herbal remedies, so I’ve decided to pull the trigger on surgery at the Mayo Clinic on January 18, 2010.
Is anyone else dealing with something similar? I've been suffering with these for three years now and it's driving me absolutely insane.
You really ought to cut out the red wine entirely, because the tannins in it tend to harden your stool. Red wine and beer should be off the table. If you absolutely must drink, stick to a little bit of white wine and leave it at that. Otherwise, keep up with all that fruit and vegetable intake.
I have always maintained the perspective that it is far preferable to suffer a ruptured vessel in one's rear than to endure such a catastrophe within the brain. 🙂
