I've got an idea! in Feedback & Suggestions ·
In my opinion, the thread titles on really need to be cleaned up grammatically—but leave everything else alone. Honestly, you can tell so much about a person just by their (lack of) literacy, and what they say says it all.
Melissa Castillo said:"F***ing" doesn't always mean sex. Sometimes it’s used in the sense of "God damn you" or similar curses. We even have those old folk songs with lyrics about getting screwed over by someone's mother.

Anyway, I actually enjoy picking up new accents, slang, or local quirks—it's interesting—but being cryptic just kills the vibe. I want to actually understand the person I'm talking to, especially if they’re actually saying something smart. When people start throwing out obscure local slang or nonsense, it feels like someone just jammed a 9mm bullet right into the middle of the conversation. Boom. Done.

It’s funny how a Midwesterner from some tiny, remote town in Kansas can easily understand an old-timer from the West Coast, but try doing it the other way around and it falls apart 🤔. Why does that happen?

Basically, because the Midwestern dialect was chosen as the foundation for the standard American language.
