I’ve been dealing with this since I was about 18. (I just turned 36 today.) It got so bad back then that I couldn't function—I couldn't hold down a job, go on trips, or even grab a coffee with friends. My career and my social life were completely derailed. Because of symptoms like the floor feeling like it's dropping out from under me, dizziness, and total exhaustion, I couldn't bring myself to admit it was all just nerves. But when it finally became too much to bear and I saw no way out, I reached out to a psychiatrist. He diagnosed it as depression coupled with anxiety and prescribed antidepressants. For the first month, things actually felt worse, but then, slowly, everything started improving. Now, I live a nearly normal life, and I would never go back to that hell. I don't regret being on medication; my only relief is knowing they aren't addictive like tranquilizers. These meds actually helped me get to a place where I could start a family, and I have a perfectly healthy daughter now. If you think about it, people take antidepressants for the same reason others take cholesterol medication or why an athlete might need lifelong hormone replacement therapy after having their thyroid removed. This is just my experience, and I'd recommend the same path to anyone else—provided there isn't an underlying physical cause. I truly hope you all recover and get to enjoy your lives...
