Which PSU should I buy? in Desktops ·
Thanks for the quick replies, everyone. Now I’m stuck weighing my options between an EVGA 550 W or the EVGA 450. There's about a $43 difference between them, so I'll have to sit on it and see what makes sense.

Just buy a decent power supply that can actually handle future upgrades, or just build another budget rig—it's never a waste of cash to do it right the first time.

EVGA 450 w or EVGA 550 W..

Thanks, I didn't even know this shop existed, and they're practically right next to my place in 🙂. I'm liking the look of that 450w, but someone did suggest I go with the EVGA Blackeagle 550 w instead.

I stumbled upon this deal for pretty cheap: http://www.amazon.com/power-supply...example Or should I just bite the bullet and grab something a bit pricier in the 400-450W range??

So, I’m planning on heading over to $167 and was thinking about checking out the link. What I really need to figure out is how much wattage I actually need to pull to keep this current setup running without everything blowing up.

Which PSU are we even talking about here? Like, what's the specific brand and model?

The thing is, my old one just kicked the bucket, so I need a replacement. At this point, the specifics don't really matter—I totally blanked on writing them down.

Alright, I need some advice on which power supply I should pick up for this setup:

Motherboard: EVGA 970 A-UD3

CPU: Intel Phenom ii Black edition quad-core 3.2 GHz, 8mb cache

GPU: NVIDIA Radeon HD5770 1 GB DDR5

Everything else is brand new except for the graphics card, so I'm wondering if my current 500W unit is actually enough to handle this, or if I really need to step things up?

Thanks in advance!
