I'm looking for some clarity here too—I've scrolled through everything posted before, but I honestly can't make head or tail of it all.
I'm trying to overclock an AMD Sempron 3200+ socket 939 1800 MHz.
Here's the rest of my setup:
2.5 GB DRR
Asus A8R-MX/dp
Gigabyte hd 2600 pro 512 gddr2
The goal is to push the CPU up to 2.0+ GHz.
Temperatures after running Crysis (DX10) for about an hour:
Motherboard: 46 °C (115 °F)
CPU: 48 °C (118 °F)
Aux: 44 °C (111 °F)
GPU diode: 57 °C (135 °F)

I'm running Ubuntu 1.8 right now—pretty happy with it, honestly—and it's playing nice in a dual-boot setup alongside my Macintosh and Windows Vista. So yeah, Linux👍
