Look, this is a forum, right? So I figure I can say what I want and defend my stance however I see fit. I don't think that’s some kind of sin, though it feels pretty pointless. The one argument I keep hearing over and over is, "Oh, we celebrate it because it isn't just any other day." Give me a break. Every single night out with my friends—whether it's a party or just hanging out—feels special to us. Maybe you guys just don't have the guts to show up at a club on a random Tuesday dressed like it's the 80s and call *that* a special occasion.
Maybe I am narrow-minded, or stupid, or just plain obnoxious, or whatever you all want to call me. But at least I actually have an opinion. I don't just follow the crowd. I don't need this whole Halloween thing to find a different way to have fun, the way you guys describe it. And if you love dressing up that much, honestly, just buy a mask. But hey, go ahead and keep calling me ignorant. While you guys are spending next Friday just hanging out at Central Park like it's any other day, I'll be at a friend's place for a private party. The theme is a pink party.

I'd rather apologize now for my mistakes than have people acting like they didn't know later on....

Look, I have to ask—you claim to actually care about us, but then you turn around and call us all idiots? If that’s how you really feel, then don't even bother looking our way. Seriously, if you think we're such fools, maybe just stay inside on Halloween and convince yourself you're the smartest person in the room. It’s easy to sit there and act like everyone else is clueless just because we can actually see the bigger picture. Give me a break. ☕

I don't really do the whole Halloween thing. I mostly just see people getting worked up about it on my way to and from work. But whatever, it's not worth the argument. Honestly, just tell me—what were you even doing back before Halloween became this massive, overhyped thing? What did you do on that day back then? I guess everyone has their own way of handling things. You think I'm a fool, I think you're one too. So, we're even, I suppose.

Right, he wasn't mentioned. But if they weren't aiming at him, then those girls—or boys, depending on which version of the story I heard—could have been out in a park, at a playground, on some beach, or up on a cliffside, or who knows where else... But since they're inside the bus, it's implied the driver is there too. Honestly, it took me like half an hour... (embarrassing truth) to figure this one out...

And if you didn't know, Halloween isn't on All Saints' Day; it's the day before. Anyway, I don't really deal with people who are this narrow-minded, so I won't waste my breath trying to educate you.
The priest was right, though. Priests are always right... yeah, sure, whatever. 🙄

Sure, it falls the day before All Saints'... but I still find the whole thing repulsive. I still think those days should be dedicated to remembering those we've lost. You know, showing them at least some respect. If you don't believe in God and you don't listen to priests, then maybe don't go arguing against them—at least not here. Everyone has their own stance. If I listen to priests and believe in God, that's my business. Just like it's your business to dress up for that stupid Halloween as some witch or vampire. It's entirely up to you. All I'm saying is that it's completely pointless, and if someone has a decent social life, they don't need Halloween to find a different way to have fun, like you suggested. Honestly, I don't care about any of you. Go ahead and enjoy yourselves and make fools of yourselves all over town. I really couldn't care less.

mistymarlin6 said:Exactly. Halloween comes right before All Saints' Day, and I still don't get why priests call it "Witch Night." What's the actual connection there? I mean, the way we translate it just feels off.

If it isn't actually about witches, then why is everyone dressing up as them anyway? Or vampires, zombies, and all that other nonsense... It feels pretty pointless to me. I mean, come on. It’s like saying you can't have fun unless you pull a prank. It's just an excuse to go out. It's silly. And what even is "Halloween" to most people? Five years ago, half the country hadn't even heard of it, and now suddenly it's the biggest thing ever. Give me a break. If someone jumped out a window, would you do it just because it was trendy?

10990 - man, that was a struggle...

I know I'm late to the party, but if they're on a Greyhound bus, you've got the driver too, so maybe it's actually 10992 legs... 😉

nimbledrifter12 said:Personally, I think Halloween is great, and I honestly don't care what anyone thinks about it. My last thought was some priest's lecture, but he clearly doesn't have a clue what he's talking about, let alone trying to lecture me. Please, give me a break—Halloween isn't some religious holiday. It’s just a day where you can dress up and have a good time. All this talk about how it's like something from the USA and doesn't fit here... I mean, look at the influence the US has on us. How much have they actually changed our culture compared to what we've done? Anyway, I won't ramble on... I don't see anything wrong with it. Ha!

There's plenty of bad stuff about it, mostly because people dress up like total fools. They paint their faces black and do all these stupid things. You don't just look messy walking down the street; you look like a complete DISASTER. Honestly, seeing everyone dressed like that feels like I've stepped into the ninth circle of hell... Witches, Dracula, vampires, and all that nonsense. Besides, back in my day, we had masquerades. Americans don't really do masquerades... Oh, wait, I forgot. Masquerades are for kids... So then what? Go ahead, be fools. Dress up like absolute idiots on a day when you should be thinking about your loved ones who passed away, instead of getting drunk in some suffocating club. You should show at least a little respect for those we've lost; they deserve it. And that priest knows exactly what he's talking about—probably better than you do, if you actually listened for once. Maybe then you'd realize he's not just talking nonsense...

If you happen to be blind, then my bad, I messed up some things... If you really need a formal apology, I can send you one in a DM.

Besides, there's no point in clinging to traditions that aren't ours anyway. Thank God I wasn't brainwashed by all that nonsense...

Anyway, sorry about the typos. I just don't really have the energy to fix them right now...

Everything feels like a complete mess lately. From Easter through Halloween and all the way to Christmas... everything just feels so Americanized, I guess. You hardly see any of our old traditions anymore. Every single holiday now seems hijacked by American customs. At this rate, we’ll probably be celebrating Thanksgiving with turkey every single week. It's just... whatever. Everything played during Christmas is just "Jingle Bells" on repeat. Look, maybe I'm just being cynical, but if you want to live like that, go ahead and move to the States and celebrate it their way. Don't come here and try to turn everything into an American imitation. And Halloween? It's a total circus. It's basically just an excuse to go out, drink, get high, and party. I don't need Halloween just to have a night out. I think we're just blindly grabbing someone else's culture, and honestly, it's a disaster. We should just be ourselves. We aren't Americans, so why act like it?div>
