Give me a simpler question. If you haven't cracked this yet, let us know—we can walk you through that critical issue in much greater detail.👍
Can someone give me a hand with this?😢
I need to calculate billable hours. If an employee clocks in at 9:00 AM and out at 12:15 PM, I need a formula that correctly calculates those 3 hours and 15 minutes.
So, I enter 09:00 in one field and 12:30 in the next, and you're telling me a third field just automatically calculates my total hours worked?
That’s how it is.
Enter your start date into the first cell—let's designate that as cell A3.
Enter the date you finished or stopped working into cell B3.
Inputting data into cell C3 equals...
Once you've entered the data, just click cell B3 once and type "-" (no quotes needed) into A3. Alternatively, select cell C3 and enter "=B3-A3" into the formula bar to achieve this result:

And just like that, you hit enter.
Just one more thing to ensure everything runs smoothly: format cell C3 as a time value. To do this, right-click on cell C3, select "Format Cells," navigate to the "Number" tab, and choose "Time." Set the format to hh:mm. For instance, you can pre-set it to 13:30.
I hope that was useful. I trust I didn't overcomplicate things.
