Maria Grant42,
thanks so much for the input.
My little one has been limping and dealing with leg pain for about two months now, and it’s pretty constant—as soon as the ibuprofen wears off, the discomfort comes right back. We've been giving them 1.5 teaspoons every 6 to 8 hours, which is just what you'd expect for a 5-year-old. One orthopedic specialist diagnosed it as Abscessus Brodie, and the MRI seems to back that up by showing an Abscessus Brodie. There was also some fluid buildup in the hip area, though luckily that has cleared up.
Right now, we're just relying on ibuprofen to manage the pain.
However, we saw a second orthopedic surgeon who completely disagrees with that first diagnosis and is leaning toward an Osteoid Osteoma instead. We haven't been able to get a CT scan done yet because we've been dealing with a sudden death in the family, so things have been heavy here.
I'm feeling a bit lost on how to move forward. Between the two, which type of imaging do you think provides the clearer picture for this kind of thing? And does anyone have recommendations on which specialists or major medical centers we should reach out to for a third opinion?
