The Godfather (2021) in Movies ·
I’ve actually gone back to rewatching The Sopranos because of this movie, just feeling like I needed to refresh my memory on everything. It honestly feels like it could turn out to be a really solid film, especially since I see Chase was involved in the production 👍

Man, it’s honestly killing me trying to narrow this down to a top 3, because this whole lineup is just absolutely lethal.
Watching movies on a phone: How is it? in Movies ·
At my job, we usually end up watching movies together, and there’s this one coworker who spends basically half the runtime scrolling through her phone instead of actually paying attention. Then, at the very end, she’ll have the nerve to tell me how much she hated the movie when she didn't even watch half of it—honestly, sometimes I just want to rip her eyes out! 😁

But seriously, I don't know... if someone is constantly glued to their screen while a movie is playing, they either aren't interested in what's happening on screen or they're just straight-up addicted to their phone. I can't think of any other explanation. Either way, you might as well not bother watching the movie at all if that's how it's going to be.☕

So, a buddy of mine was talking to me the other day and asked, ''You know that song, Why Do They Lie To Our Faces?''
But what he actually meant was, Why Do They Lie To Our Faces🤣

The Netherlands just had their entire league scrapped.
France is seeing Paris Saint-Germain take the title.
Over in Germany, the beautiful game just keeps on rolling.

I used to mess around with chess a bit back in the day, but then this whole obsession kicked in and now I’m grinding matches on Chess.com every single day while binge-watching GothamChess on YouTube... It’s become a total ritual. So, get this—I ran into a coworker today and we started chatting, and he goes something like, "Man, I'm glad we bumped into each other so we could kill some time, otherwise you probably would've played fifty damn chess games already today." I had absolutely no clue the guy even knew how to play, so naturally, we couldn't help ourselves—we had to jump into a game right then and there. Then I get home tonight and see everyone over on r/chess going absolutely wild about all this stuff, haha.

He definitely had to use that Talov avatar to go with ☕

Eric Fox7 said:Does anyone have a rough idea of how much air traffic actually tanked during the pandemic? Personally, I’ve noticed hardly any planes in the sky over the last few days—even though if you look at this real-time map, it doesn't exactly look empty:

Not that I really have any clue what things looked like normally before all this 🤔--it's hard to judge without a baseline, I guess.

I’d say we’re looking at a drop of roughly 90 to 95%. I actually work out here at the airport, and since all this madness started, most days there's basically just one single arrival per day.

Honestly, who even knows what kind of crazy saga we’re going to be dealing with next month?😁

Honestly, I’m not even surprised by any of this; it’s all pretty much exactly what you'd expect from people like that.
I'm just calling it like I see it. 😁

Susan Kim2 said:Why don't you just give them a taste of their own medicine and stay home? What exactly do you expect people to do? Coffee shops aren't operating, restaurants are closed, entire sports leagues have ground to a halt, kids aren't in school, and all extracurricular activities are totally frozen.
What should people be doing? Should everyone just barricade themselves in their houses just so you can claim the trail as your own personal kingdom? 🙏

Yeah, sure, I'm the king of the track. 🤣

I just wanted to build on what Jessica Gonzalez mentioned earlier about how there seem to be more people out today than on this same day last year. Like, normally you'd see maybe zero to five people out there, but lately, it's always twenty-plus. Personally, I find it way more relaxing when I can just cruise around without constantly having to swerve left or right because someone is playing soccer here, or veering off because a tennis match is happening just a little further down. 😁

In my neighborhood, I see larger groups gathering quite often; people are just hanging out on benches, and kids are walking around in groups of five or six. There isn't really anyone monitoring it, though I guess there isn't much reason to. I spend at least two hours outside every day. I still wear my mask, even though things seem to be shifting lately—today, maybe 80% of people were without them. Even over at the local park just now, it looked like 90% weren't wearing one. Personally, wearing it helps with my allergies, so I keep it on when I'm out cycling too.

I’ve actually noticed something pretty similar. Most days, I head out for a ride on the bike path near my house, and there used to be plenty of times where I wouldn't run into a single soul. But man, ever since all this craziness started, more and more people have been flocking there. You see parents messing around with their kids, seniors out for a stroll, all sorts of people... I’m just counting down the days until everything gets back to normal so everyone can slowly drift back to their favorite coffee shops or wherever they usually hang out...
Once Upon a Time in America (Sergio Leone) in Movies ·
fadedwalker18 said:I caught bits of it yesterday and the day before—not quite in one sitting... but I finally found the headspace and the time. I’ll hopefully sit down and watch the whole thing at once very soon.

The film is Magnificent. A true masterpiece. A genuine piece of art.
It’s a slow burn. The plot unfolds gradually. As you settle into the movie, you really feel the passage of time... the characters feel so incredibly real:

Jill ( Claudia Cardinale ). Absolutely stunning. Feminine. Natural. 😍 ( She's still with us, thankfully. )

The Trio, if you don't count Morton... the mysterious Harmonica, the villainous Frank, and the unlucky yet lucky Cheyenne... they are perfect.

And the music. It’s woven right into the narrative, flowing with the film itself... such infectious music.

I honestly don't know. I'll probably watch this another X times until I know it by heart.
Or maybe just until I've seen enough of a young Claudia Cardinale. 🤣 The very definition of beauty.

The film is brutal and gritty, but it possesses soul, spirit, humanity... it feels alive.

Sergio Leone... 🙏🙏

👍

I remember the first time I saw it when I was just a kid, maybe nine or ten years old... those opening scenes where Frank and his crew take out McBain's people really burned themselves into my memory. I loved the movie back then, even if I couldn't actually remember the title—just that specific scene—so I had a bit of a hard time tracking it down once I hit my teens and started getting "serious" about cinema. Honestly, you can imagine how stoked I was when I finally tracked it down again. 😍

I'm pretty sure I've sat through this at least six or seven times by now. I agree with everything said here; it is an absolute masterpiece in every sense of the word. We're never going to see anything quite like this again. Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone—what a legendary pairing. 🙏
As for the acting, there's no need to waste breath... Henry Fonda, Charles Bronson, and Jason Robards. What a powerhouse cast. And Claudia Cardinale? One of the most beautiful women to ever grace the screen. Seriously, it's top-tier. Just incredible.
