How to measure body pH levels?

I was reading this book called "Natural Remedies They Don't Want You to Know About," and the author goes on about the body's pH levels. It was something along the lines of how higher acidity makes the body more susceptible to cancer... or some theory like that. I'm actually curious about this—how would one even go about measuring that?
