Eating in the ZONE

I've been looking into the zone diet a bit, and while it seems nice on paper, I'm worried it’s just not doable for most people. For instance, I only cook at home maybe four times a week; the rest of the time, I'm relying on bakeries or the university dining hall. You can't really put together a meal there that fits the zone guidelines, even if you're being super "liberal" about it. It’s easy to call someone an idiot, especially when you have no idea what their day-to-day life actually looks like.
The dining hall is actually perfect for a budget-friendly zone plan 🙂
Grab a piece of meat and some salad, and you’ve basically got a near-perfect zone meal (you just need to add olive oil, which is recommended). The recipes are pretty straightforward—you don't even need a scale, just use your hand as a guide (like, the meat should be roughly the size of your palm). Carbs are easy to track too (half an apple equals one block, whereas you can eat as much salad as you want), and the fat will usually be included in the dining hall meals. Honestly, even $3.25 buying enough peanuts for the month isn't that expensive 🙂
