So, I’m assuming we’re talking about occult bleeding here—nothing visible to the naked eye?
Nothing is visible to the naked eye.
Are you experiencing any other symptoms? Nausea, pain, or maybe certain foods don't sit well? What is your bowel movement typically like?
I deal with low blood pressure, so most of my issues usually crop up when the heat gets intense. As for medication, I don't take anything regularly, aside from an occasional antihistamine for pollen allergies. My digestion is generally normal, though things were a bit soft on the day the sample was taken. Good 40.
I’m looking for some perspective here. My wife had her routine physical about 20 days ago. Everything seemed fine, except for a slight anemia noted in her blood work. Her doctor suggested a follow-up test specifically focused on iron levels. We just got the results back today, and I’ll list everything that falls outside the normal range:
RBC 5.3 (H)
Hemoglobin 118 (L)
MCV 74 (L)
MCH 22 (L)
MCHC 303 (L)
Iron 5.8 (L)
UIBC 70 (H)
The biggest concern for us, however, is that her fecal occult blood test came back positive.
Our primary care physician has already sent over a referral to Gastroenterology.
We were actually scheduled to head out on vacation this coming Monday. The dilemma is: how long does it typically take to get an appointment with a specialist? In your opinion, is this something serious enough that we should cancel our travel plans, or should we go ahead with our trip and then tackle the next steps in September once we know more from the upcoming tests?

Thanks for the heads-up, I managed to get it downloaded.

How did you track down Air Alert II? I’d be interested in giving it a shot, and if it actually works, I’ll make the extra effort to pick it up. Could you give me a rough idea of what the routine looks like for those first ten days or so? Just looking to see if it's worth the hustle.
