Sarah Long said:So, I was at my routine OB-GYN appointment for a Pap smear, right? The doctor is doing his thing—checking everything, asking if anything hurts, all that deal. At the end, he mentions he thought he felt a cyst, but turns out it wasn't that—he thinks it might just be bowel issues (?) and asks if I’ve been dealing with diarrhea. I told him no—I mean, sure, if I overeat I get that full feeling in my stomach, but it passes quickly, and otherwise, it's fine. He asked a bunch of other stuff too, but basically, nothing was wrong. Then, out of nowhere, he recommends I go in for an amoeba test. Honestly, I’m so confused. I don't really have digestion problems, though I'll admit I've dealt with constipation and irregular movements since I was a kid. Aside from that, it's fine. Now I'm stuck wondering if I should actually bother with the testing or not. Maybe I just need to eat more fiber?
So, what happens if they actually find an amoeba? You just take some meds and it's over?
And what if you have it but just don't treat it?
hmmm....
