I feel like I’ve completely burned through my reserves, and now I’m just trying to scrape together enough strength to recover, so I guess I’m asking how you guys handle this... Honestly, the fact that I’m basically "waiting" for my mom to pass is throwing me totally off balance. Before, I could just tuck that thought away in a little box and focus on taking care of her like usual, but as her condition gets worse by the day—and as it hits me that I won't be able to look after her much longer—I can't keep up the act anymore. I'm just breaking down.

I’m curious—how do you guys actually deal with yourselves? With your own internal crises? Look, we all have those days where everything revolves around the patient. That’s the person you love more than anything, right? It’s easy enough to give up your own wants, skip the nights out, or scrap your plans just to be there for them. But what happens when you just hit a wall? When you’ve had it up to here and everything feels like too much?
