NASA I can't even begin to process this without feeling a massive headache coming on—it’s just one of those things where you look at the situation and realize how deeply broken the whole system actually is. Honestly, I've seen enough of these cycles to know exactly where this is headed, and it’s never toward anything resembling progress. It’s always the same pattern, isn't it? You see the same players moving the same pieces around, pretending like they aren't just repeating the same mistakes from ten years ago, while everyone else is left trying to make sense of the mess. It reminds me of this one time back when I was working a grueling stretch in Chicago—just endless bureaucracy and people talking in circles while nothing actually got done. That's the feeling I get here. We're being sold this polished version of reality, but if you peel back the layers, it's just more of the same old dysfunction we've been dealing with for decades. It's exhausting, frankly. You start to wonder if anyone is actually steering the ship or if we're all just drifting through this chaos because nobody wants to take responsibility for the wreckage. It's cynical, sure, but after seeing how these things play out, being optimistic feels less like a virtue and more like a lack of information.
I honestly don't get it. How did this even happen? Did the doctors just completely blow it?😕

The doctors completely misread the situation. After looking at all his labs and running every possible test under the sun, they were convinced his body could handle such an aggressive course of treatment. They figured since Dad wasn't losing weight—he was actually in pretty decent shape physically—that he’d be able to take the hit. And we believed them. We put our trust in those medical professionals, thinking they had everything under control. Turns out, we were wrong.

Even if I had some sort of crystal ball, I honestly don't think I could have predicted things playing out quite like this. But then again—that’s life, isn't it? Just one thing after another. I guess we just have to take it as it comes.
I honestly don't even know what to say to you guys. I’m still sitting here trying to process everything—it’s been a total shock to the system, and frankly, I haven't quite come down from it yet.
My dad passed away on July 15th—esophageal cancer.

It wasn’t even because of metastases, which is the part that sticks with me. His last round of chemo was apparently a bit "stronger," or so his oncologist put it, and they ended up sending him in for a biopsy because of a suspicious little nodule.

That process caused some thinning in his lung parenchyma—basically the lung tissue—and it’s a lot like poking a tiny hole in a balloon; once it starts leaking, everything just deflates incredibly fast. About ten days after he received that specific treatment, my dad started feeling this intense pain in his lungs.
The issue was lymph fluid building up due to that damaged tissue, and once that fluid hits the lungs... well, I don't want to go into all those medical details.

Everything had been going so well, too. He didn't even lose his hair. He was actually proactive about his checkups because he felt great—he was even looking forward to starting the new school year at the high school where he worked.

And just like that...

I try to find comfort in the fact that he wasn't in pain, especially since he didn't have a single metastasis. We were talking on his very last day, and then he just broke out in a cold sweat. I knew deep down I was losing him, but I kept telling him, "It's okay, everything is going to be fine."
By tomorrow morning, he'll have moved on to the next world.

Even today, as I stood there lighting a candle at the graveside, I couldn't quite wrap my head around the fact that he's gone. It happened so fast.

Listen, everyone, please stay strong. Hold onto your faith in recovery and try to stay positive, no matter how impossible it feels. Just keep fighting, regardless of how hard the road gets.

If there is anything at all I can do to help anyone here, please reach out. I truly mean it.
