Zone Diet in Health ·
I'm seeing the same thing here—though I’d argue it’s more about that internal drive to overhaul your entire diet. Once you actually pull off a total lifestyle shift, you tend to stick to it; the urge to regress just isn't there. I used to be absolutely obsessed with sweets, but now? Sometimes we'll bake something, and I can look right at it and feel zero desire to even take a bite.

I’ve read both the Zone Diet and the Healthy food combining books.
They are worlds apart—one insists on keeping proteins and carbs strictly separated, while the Zone allows them together... So, how are you actually supposed to eat? Personally, I found the food combining approach more interesting, but the lifestyle just didn't click for me. It leaves you feeling like you're missing something, and I’d end up hungry. For what it's worth, I’m at a healthy weight and have never struggled with extra pounds. Eventually, I just gave up on those strict rules; I don't eat junk, and I generally try to eat clean—lots of fruit, veggies, whole grains, that sort of thing. Once I started combining proteins and carbs in the same meal, everything seemed fine—my digestion hasn't skipped a beat—so I decided to stick with that. The one rule I still follow religiously is eating fruit on an empty stomach (at least one apple) or treating it as its own separate snack.
