I’m dealing with a 24-year-old guy who, because of how life played out, ended up with nothing more than an elementary school education. He spent a few months in a juvenile detention center, and honestly, he has zero interest in working. He completely shuts down whenever anyone in the house tries to talk to him; every attempt at a conversation just ends with him walking out the door. He basically treats the house like a glorified motel—he shows up in the morning, sleeps, and then leaves again. He doesn't touch anything in the house except his bed. It’s pretty obvious he’s using drugs, though I have no clue what specifically he's on, but he definitely uses Xanax in heavy amounts. To put it bluntly, he’s totally out of control and avoids any kind of human contact at all costs. He isn't aggressive, though.
Since he's an adult now, I’m wondering if there is any legal way to get him to go somewhere for a consultation or therapy, given that he’s almost certainly struggling with addiction.
