The Shack (2017) in Movies ·
neonorca38 said:The Shack is about a father dealing with the aftermath of his daughter, Missy, being kidnapped and killed during a family trip. All that was left behind was her bloody dress, which police found in an abandoned shack out in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later, a grieving Mack gets this strange message—an invitation to return to that very same shack. He hesitates, but he goes anyway and ends up meeting God. Or rather, the Holy Trinity, appearing as a kind, bubbly Black woman named Elousie (the Father), a short man with Middle Eastern features (the Son), and a gentle Asian woman named Azijka Saray (the Holy Spirit). After getting answers to some pretty heavy questions, Mack finds peace with God, whom he had almost given up on after losing his daughter.

Anyone seen this?
It's a good movie, based on a book that became another bestseller in the USA and everywhere else...
Watched it yesterday. It was alright, I guess. Pretty emotional and full of messages. A bit different from the usual stuff we see... worth a look. 👍

I was already feeling pretty skeptical after reading that one line.
And then I kept scrolling down, and honestly... it was totally justified... 😁

Look, Americans can be so hot and cold... one minute they're all "there's no such thing as a free lunch," and the next they're like, "Hallelujah, amen!" So, usually, even the most mindless spiritual garbage sells like crazy over there. In the most materialistic country on Earth, any crap wrapped up in fancy packaging looks profound—including those televangelists and their cheap spirituality.

Oh, and of course, if someone isn't being murdered or brutally attacked on screen, Americans can't even get their brains up to operating temperature to actually pay attention...

Anyway, I think I'll pass on this one.
I’m pretty sure I’ve never dealt with a rash in my entire life. For the last couple of days, I’ve been fighting a fever—peaked at about 101°F—along with a headache, though no coughing or vomiting, and everything seems fine digestion-wise.

I’ve been using Voltaren to bring the fever down, then switching to Advil for the head pain.

Here’s the thing, though—on my right calf, just in one specific spot, these red patches showed up... maybe a 15cm circle? They look a bit like mosquito bites, just slightly wider. When I put weight on my leg, I get this stinging, almost piercing sensation, and it’s a little tender to the touch.

Is this actually a rash? (Since I've never had one before...) Is that stinging sensation normal? My fever is gone now, but I still feel like I got hit by a truck, except for this spot on my calf which hasn't budged.

Could it be a reaction to the fever or the meds? Will it just clear up on its own, or...?

Umm... regarding that RAID setup... honestly, I've had PCs for so many years now that I can't even remember ever actually installing one...

No worries, thanks anyway! 😉

William Richardson12 said:You don't need that RAID controller, just like you don't need a modem—just head over to Device Manager and feel free to disable them both.

Thanks! 🙂

Bryan Taylor8 said:Just hit Win + R or go to Start > Run and type "dxdiag"—no quotes—then head over to the Display tab. Look at what's listed under "name" and let us know what it says here. If it actually says via / NVIDIA GeForce, then I'm honestly stumped on where you'd even find drivers for that, since from what I've read, those graphics cards are ancient...

Here's a photo

Thanks so much, but you're talking about the GPU—I just posted that I fixed the issue. 🙂
Thanks a ton 😉

What I mean is, it's telling me I need to install drivers for some kind of RAID controller too. Since you guys know your stuff, is that actually important? Should I be Googling those drivers or just ignore it?

Yeah, old graphics card, but an old PC too... 😁 The catch is that casual users like me end up spending all our money on everything except a new computer.

As soon as I save up some cash, I'll grab a new rig. 🙂

P. S. Nice desktop... 🙂
Love the palm trees in the background 😁 😁

Thanks, everyone. I finally managed to dig through about 55 pages of Google results—after trying ten different "drivers"—and found the right one...
The issue is gone.

Quick question, though. The Add Hardware Wizard is flagging missing drivers for a PCI modem (don't even use it, I've got an external one) and some kind of RAID controller. Does anyone know what that’s actually for? Is it worth hunting down those RAID drivers too, or should I just leave it alone?

Thanks!!

Bryan Taylor8 said:Every single time you install Windows, you have to follow up with all the drivers—sound, motherboard, graphics... uh, I can't remember if there's anything else. Personally, I always make sure to grab everything I need beforehand and toss it onto a USB drive or a disc before starting the installation... just to be safe.

Give this a shot If it doesn't work, my bad—I've honestly never heard of a video card like that 🙂

P. S. This is actually my first post here. Woohoo! 😁

Thanks a ton, I already downloaded it. I'm not even entirely sure how to install this thing, though—there isn't an exe file anywhere, and when I try using "Add New Hardware," it just gives me that error saying the wizard can't find the necessary software. Nothing I download seems to help. Most of these sites just push junk driver management tools at you, and then they charge you just to actually upload the drivers...

Man, I used to find every driver I needed on the first try, but this is a total nightmare.

On my old PC, I didn't even have to deal with graphics drivers afterward—just sound, which I remembered and knocked out in three minutes today. But this? I haven't even made progress in three hours... 😢

The card is via / NVIDIA GeForce

Those links Everest suggested aren't working at all. I tried Googling them, but it just opened a bunch of random stuff... honestly, I'm not even sure if I'm supposed to run those files manually or go through "Add Hardware"—I tried the latter, but now I'm lost on which option actually handles the video card...

Give me a second to figure out if it's 64 or 32-bit...
Ugh... how am I even supposed to check that? Everest isn't helping much...

Still haven't cracked the code on this one. I finally figured out which graphics card I'm running, but honestly—I have no clue how to actually install it... none of the drivers I download seem to work at all. 🙄

shadowlynx102 said:Of course they do—you just haven't installed your graphics drivers yet.

Right... hmm. The catch is that I used the exact SAME installation disc on an even older PC and everything worked perfectly.

Any quick tips on how to figure out which card I actually have? Like, where should I look to check...? I'll just Google the rest myself.

thanks

I just finished installing Windows XP, and now I’m running into this weird issue where scrolling up or down feels... choppy? I don't know how else to describe it—it doesn't move smoothly, it kind of lags behind. It’s like there are these little waves of delay. It happens when I'm browsing the web, moving through folders, everything...

🙂🙂🙂🙂

To be clear, it isn't happening during gaming or while watching videos—just standard desktop stuff and basic windows.

It’s an older machine, and it was running Windows 7 before this, which was a much heavier OS, yet I never had any issues back then.

I've installed Windows XP on even older rigs in the past without a single hiccup. Could it be a bad installation disc? Or maybe something else...

Am I missing some specific drivers or something?

And obviously, I shouldn't even have to mention that every time I install Windows XP, I end up hunting down audio drivers.
Plus, when I go into the Control Panel and check "Add Hardware," it says I'm missing drivers for the RAID controller, the Video controller (VGA Compatible), and a PCI modem (which probably doesn't matter). Could those first two things be causing my laggy screen?

Thanks in advance!
Kopljar’s getting on my nerves a bit—mostly because he seems terrified of actually leaving the floor... man, just take a step back from the 8 or 9-meter mark, drive hard, and shoot from three meters out. Instead, he keeps trying to creep up to the 5-meter line to fire away. Reminds me a little of Karlović on the tennis court—absolute giants, yet somehow playing so soft, almost timidly. I want to see some grit in his eyes.

Bičanić is also a bit frustrating since he goes out of his way to avoid contact—always dodging the physical stuff. He seems scared of taking a hit, let alone dealing with two guys at once like Duvnjak does. And honestly, that’s the issue with the whole perimeter... Duvnjak takes more hits than the rest of the outside shooters combined, simply because he’s the only one who isn't afraid of a real physical duel.

And yeah... the bench and their tendency to stop our fast breaks is costing us at least a few goals per game. I’m not talking about those last 5-6 minutes where you really need to stall and milk the clock, but when you look at our wins—considering how many more goals we score than the opposition—it basically offsets the number of fast breaks we lose due to those mistakes.

Anyway, hats off to the guys. These handball players have truly been the pride of the nation for the last 20 years. Imagine where they could be if there was actually serious investment in the sport?!?!? 😲😲😲

Look, the guys just need to play the way they know best...

When the coach calls a timeout for a quick break—just to clear their heads and grab a snack—they really ought to just tune him out and decompress.

If you look back at those games against Sweden, France, and Russia, we couldn't score a single point on the possession immediately following his timeouts. We almost handed the win to Sweden because of one of his "brilliant" tactical moves.
