Sundance Film Festival

I know how these festivals work. It's nothing but a parade of junk, but hey, I see you're convinced otherwise. Any movie you don't need subtitles for is, by definition, good and watchable. I'd rather see money spent fixing our roads than being dumped into films. That's just my take.
Well, looking at this part of Europe, we can actually compare this festival to those German cars you mentioned.
If your idea of "fleecing people" is having over 100,000 expected attendees for a single festival, then fine. If you think 160 screenings is somehow "just okay," well, for this part of the world—and honestly, for Europe and major global festivals too—that is incredibly respectable.
Think about it: within an hour, all the projected online tickets were sold out. Traffic in Sarajevo was shut down because of this festival. For one single screening, there were between 2,000 and 3,000 people lined up for tickets, and some people were even sleeping in tents just to get their hands on them. If that seems small to you, that's fine, but it isn't small. This festival is growing into something that demands massive respect both in the region and across all of Europe.
Calling it a "parade of junk" feels a bit malicious to me, maybe even jealous. Why not check out the festival's actual website? Look at the screenings scheduled, look at the guests, or just look back at what happened in previous years. You can say whatever you want about the Sundance Film Festival, but calling it a parade of junk is just wrong, regardless of your personal taste.
