Dell Latitude or just buy something new? in Laptops ·
Yeah, the specs are a Core 2 Duo paired with 2 GB of RAM.

Thanks for letting me know! Honestly, for what I need to get done, that’s more than enough.

As for the battery and charger—I haven't really given eBay much thought lately, if I'm being honest. I was originally looking exclusively at OEM parts, but since shipping those would cost an absolute fortune, I just kind of ruled them out from the jump. I was worried about running into some low-quality junk, but seeing as most people online seem pretty happy with what they find there, I think I'll just take the plunge and go that route, keeping this thing running for as long as it stays functional.

Greetings, everyone!

I find myself facing a bit of a dilemma and would truly appreciate some collective wisdom on the matter. Here is the situation: alongside my desktop setup, I’ve been relying on an HP's Dell Latitude that’s about seven years old now, and honestly, it still holds up reasonably well. However, I have some upcoming moves planned, and since dragging a full desktop tower around isn't exactly practical, this laptop is likely going to become my sole machine for schoolwork and everything else. My current predicament is whether it actually makes sense to sink money into buying a brand-new battery and a fresh power adapter for this specific Dell Latitude. Is it even worth investing in hardware for a machine of this vintage, even if I haven't put massive hours on it, or should I just start looking seriously at purchasing a modern replacement?

My main concern is purely a question of economic logic; I simply don't know how these machines typically behave after such a long period of time. I really don't want to pour cash into repairs only to have some other critical component decide to quit on me next month, you know? I'm just trying to figure out where the breaking point is.
