AOC 144Hz Gaming Monitor Review/Discussion

Hey everyone,
I could really use some help here. If anyone happens to own this exact monitor, you’d be doing me a massive favor. So, basically, I picked one up a few days ago, and of course, because my luck is just that great, when I finally got it hooked up at home, I couldn't get 144Hz to work... and every single time I try to select the 144Hz setting, the screen just goes pitch black. I honestly thought I was losing my mind, so I headed down to Best Buy and grabbed a brand new DVI DualLink cable, thinking maybe that would fix things. And nope, same old story. Just black, black, black. It won't even bump up to 100, 120, or 144... nothing at all. I called up a few people I know, and they all told me I should just plug in an HDMI cable and it'll probably work fine. Unfortunately, my GTX 1050 Ti doesn't have an HDMI port, so I'm kind of stuck and can't even test that theory.
Since three out of my four buddies have 144Hz monitors and they all work perfectly fine on DVI DualLink, I'm starting to wonder if I somehow ended up with a lemon. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should try next? I'd love to find a way to test this without having to drop a bunch of cash on a whole new graphics card just to see if the monitor is broken :-/
