Help picking a laptop under $1,000

So, here’s the deal: I’m looking to pick up a new laptop, probably hovering around that $1,000 mark—give or take a bit depending on how much I feel like sweating the small stuff. It’s not going to be a dedicated gaming rig, but I need something capable enough to handle some casual gaming on the side, plus I’ll be running AutoCAD and Visual Studio for work and projects. And listen, an SSD is absolutely non-negotiable at this point; I don't have the patience for spinning rust anymore.
I’ve been scouring the web and stumbled upon a Dell Inspiron and an HP Omen 15 sitting right around that price point. If you guys could weigh in on which one is actually worth my hard-earned cash, or if there’s some other sleeper hit out there in this price range that I’ve completely overlooked, I’d really appreciate the help.
