Tyler Rogers3, yes, that sounds most likely like ascites. My mother dealt with that herself due to pancreatic cancer. That pathological fluid doesn't just vanish on its own; it requires paracentesis to drain. Mom was taking Fursemid, but even that didn't provide much relief. It made breathing incredibly difficult because the fluid pressure was pushing against her lungs and other organs, so we had to have her undergo drainage procedures constantly.

I am truly sorry you are going through this; I know exactly how heavy this feels. Try to encourage your dad to head to the hospital—it might offer him some much-needed relief from the discomfort.
I found myself deeply disappointed by my experience with Dr. Samia, despite his reputation as a leading figure in oncology. He completely failed to recognize that my mother was suffering from significant ascites. The entire staff there acts as if they are some high-level medical board, which, looking back after some time has passed, feels somewhat pathetic. There is also another matter that I cannot address publicly here due to its extremely negative nature. We did not go to Cepulic.

As Jane Doe mentioned, you absolutely must seek a second opinion. This is a heavy diagnosis—I’ve seen it affect my own family, though I also know someone who managed to foresee its progression. To be perfectly honest, I find your doctor's current approach somewhat unsettling. Regarding this specific therapy you are undergoing, I haven't encountered it before; is the primary objective intended to reduce the tumor size?

Please keep posting here. I understand how incredibly difficult this is, but please know there are many of us who have walked this path, and you certainly won't be facing this alone.
Dear placidwalker452, I am truly sorry; I understand everything perfectly.

And yesterday, Mom actually went out for her hair, a manicure, put on some makeup—she looked like a completely different person! Smiling, joking that she had to look "pretty for the procedure." 😁
If you saw her, you’d think she was in the hospital for a cracked Rib, not cancer. But that’s just who she is—a rock. If she weren't that strong, she never would have raised my brother and me, or survived all the nonsense life threw her way...

Ivanica, Mom was never much of a BBQ or meat lover: she’d have a sausage or some bacon every now and then, but generally, she lived on fruit, veggies, soups, stews, teas, dairy, or even just bread soaked in milk. Nothing particularly unhealthy. I honestly think stress played a huge role; she always felt she had to stay quiet, endure everything, and never complain. She didn't even have the luxury of complaining—life just kept piling things on her, but she took it all stoically. I suppose asking "why" doesn't serve much purpose now; you just have to accept the reality and fight. 🙂

My mother dealt with that same awful disease. As for risk factors—nothing stands out, BUT, I see a massive similarity in the psychological profile. I don't have any flowery words or empty comforts for you, please forgive me. I'm just sending you one big hug.
Hmm, I’m not so sure; I certainly walked away with a different impression. 🤷 Shouldn't our doctors be more than capable of handling such matters? Not that it really matters in this context, though.
It would be remarkably fair if some prominent female journalist with this diagnosis actually spoke up and said, "Look, I've been through these specific clinics, here’s what they charge, and here’s how they handle treatment." I haven't been able to find a single reliable source for that kind of data. But then again, since we're discussing medical care abroad, I suppose such practical details aren't meant for us mere mortals. Not everyone has access to high-profile connections like a celebrity surgeon in Los Angeles...

Zachary Howard2, I'm afraid I can't offer you any assistance there.

Hang in there!
