Great, I'm glad we're finally on the same page about this. It looks like DG HAL RAR is only being handled at Mercury or that private clinic, Butterfly. There might be other spots out there, but that's all I've heard so far...
I'm definitely going to take action on this... 🙂
Honestly, I just wish I’d started tackling this sooner. Now summer is rolling in, and the last thing I want is to be stuck recovering in this heat. They say it's actually better to get these surgeries out of the way during the winter anyway... but whatever, we'll see how it goes.
I'll talk to you later, and thanks again for all the kind words and support!
My doctor told me to keep swimming this summer—apparently, it's highly recommended for chemo patients and during recovery too. 👍
Best,
Thanks for reaching out. So, here’s the deal: I went in for a checkup at Merkur. Branislav Kocman saw me. He was actually really nice and polite, answered all my questions, and walked me through how the whole thing would go down. Honestly, I was so stressed out that after he left, I had to sit there and focus just to remember everything he said and everything I’d asked. From what I gathered, he can fix the fissure at the same time he performs the DG HAL RAR procedure. That way, I wouldn't have to make two separate trips. To me, that’s just common sense. I wouldn't even bother doing them separately if they can handle it all in one shot.
Like I mentioned before, he has me taking Detralex for now. He told me once I get all my anesthesia clearances done, I should give him a call to schedule the procedure. He does his work over at Merkur. As for the wait, I'll probably be sitting on my hands for a bit. He's on vacation right now, so I'll touch base with him once he's back from his break.
You mentioned you saw Dr. Ivanovic. From what I hear, those two are top-tier surgeons and I think they're actually on the same team.
Bottom line: if I can get this done at Merkur, that's my move. My symptoms are manageable enough right now that I don't feel like throwing money away $2667 if I don't absolutely have to. I get that private clinics offer much closer, better care with the staff—that psychological comfort is definitely tempting—but honestly, why drop all that cash if I can hold out? I'll know for sure once I have my test results in hand...
Anyway, that's where my head is at. Either way, I know I'll have to face this eventually.
I'll let you know how the whole thing unfolds.
I am seriously so happy for you and that everything worked out so well! You're such a sweetheart for giving such great advice and sharing your experiences—it's been a huge help, seriously.
Thanks again, and we'll talk soon. 🙂
Take care!
Karen Thompson10, we chatted recently, so I just wanted to reach out—you were so kind and your advice really helped.
I went in for my exam, and look, those two internal hemorrhoids are stage 2, but the one that’s absolutely killing me and keeps popping out is stage 3 (basically heading toward stage 4). I’ve also got a fissure.
The doctor has me on Detralex right now just to calm things down and help the veins relax. I’ve felt a little better the last few days; I think the bleeding has stopped and I’ve managed to soften my stool as much as possible. I’m drinking a liter of chamomile tea a day plus plenty of water, and I make sure to take a probiotic before bed. That stuff helps enough to make using the bathroom bearable. Otherwise, it feels like someone is slicing me with a knife.
The doctor walked me through everything regarding the DG HAL RAR procedure, and honestly, it still seems like my best bet. But I’m torn—do I pull the trigger now or wait until after the summer? Plus, I am terrified, plain and simple. Now that I’m feeling slightly better and the bleeding has subsided, I'm tempted to put it off... I know that's a bad move because this isn't just going to fix itself...
One thing the doctor mentioned was that he can't guarantee these hemorrhoids will vanish forever after the procedure. He was brutally honest, too—saying if I plan on having kids someday, the strain of childbirth will probably bring them right back. He told me I need to be ready for that reality...
Look, I know I need to make a call soon because this constant overthinking is driving me insane.
Anyway, how have you been feeling lately? Are you actually happy with the results? Are they totally gone?
Sending you a huge hello, stay well!
Karen Thompson10, thanks so much for all the advice and answers. You guys are awesome. Honestly, just getting this off my chest makes me feel better.
I'm so sorry you had to deal with this at such a young age. I can't believe it. It’s definitely genetic for me—my dad, my grandma, my uncle... Genetics clearly play a huge role here. I know people who live total chaos lives and don't have a single hemorrhoid...
I was actually browsing the Sun City Clinic website this morning, and that DG HAL RAR method looks totally legit to me. I wasn't sure if they only offered DG HAL or if they did the DG HAL RAR version too, but since you went in for the DG HAL RAR, that's a relief. I'll probably need the full DG HAL RAR treatment myself because I think my hemorrhoids are already pretty advanced. How are you feeling now? Can you move around normally, handle bathroom trips, and stuff like that?...
I'm glad you had a good experience at Sun City Clinic; it's good to know that before I make my own decision...
I was talking to someone who had surgery with Phil a few years back. She said he did a fantastic job and feels like she never even had hemorrhoids—even though she had both external and internal ones. But I suspect Phil doesn't use these specific methods like DG HAL, so I'm a little skeptical. People say he's great, though...
Have you heard of him?
Anyway, I'm in full investigation mode right now, trying to soak up as many different perspectives as possible...
Good luck! I truly hope this surgery gets rid of your hemorrhoids for good!
Michael Diaz4, I’m seriously sorry you had to go through all that. I totally feel for you. If you haven't felt how much those damn hemorrhoids hurt, you honestly can't even imagine. I'm sure you'll be fine and get back to your normal life soon enough.
I agree, you really should see a doctor before things spiral out of control, but let's be real—this is such an awkward, specific issue that everyone puts it off as long as they can stand it. Which is completely wrong. But you gotta hope. Speaking from experience, I spent the last few years hoping and trying everything under the sun to get my hemorrhoids to settle down, but nothing worked. So now, I've finally decided to actually do something about it.
I'll check back in once I hear what the doctor says...
Hang in there...
Michael Diaz4, Karen Thompson10, thanks so much for the input. So, I guess it really just comes down to the individual. Honestly, seeing as my situation looks a lot like Michael Diaz4's, I’m terrified I’ll have to deal with both THD and the traditional surgery. It’s freaking me out—I’m only 27, and I can't believe I'm already dealing with this mess before I've even had kids. Just my luck...
My biggest fear is the recovery period. What if things go sideways after the surgery...
Anyway, I'm heading to the doctor ASAP. I need them to tell me exactly how bad the damage is and what stage we're looking at.
Michael Diaz4, I'm rooting for you to have a smooth, painless recovery.
B.t.w. Did you have the traditional surgery done in the exact same spot as the THD?
Like I said, I suspect my hemorrhoids might be stage 4 too, which means I'm facing the same uphill battle as you. I've been bleeding pretty heavily during bowel movements the last few days, so I'm seriously spooked.
Thanks again, everyone, and let's stay in touch.
Hey everyone. Please, I need your help and honest input here.
I am dealing with massive Hemorrhoid issues. It’s honestly unbearable. They're external, and they pop out every single time I go to the bathroom. I have several of them, and they're about the size of a marble. Every single time, I'm stuck having to manually push them back in. It hurts, it burns, and there's bleeding. I've been stuck in this nightmare for about a year now. I’ve tried every single pill and cream you can find at the drugstore. I kept hoping something would work, but I've finally reached my breaking point—I'm looking into surgical removal because I cannot live like this anymore. My life has become a total living hell, from my social life to my career.
From everything I've dug up online, the THD method seems like something I actually want to try.
PLEASE, if anyone has gone through the THD procedure, reach out and give me some advice. I need to get to a hospital ASAP. At this point, money isn't even an issue; I just want my life back.
I saw in some older threads that Nikola1903 went through the THD surgery. NIKOLA1903, if you happen to see this, please hit me up. Tell me honestly, were you happy with the results? How are you feeling now that some time has passed?
Seriously, I need info on THD!
Thanks, guys.
